Thousands of American teenagers scheduled tours of the White House on their spring break this year. Unfortunately the President abruptly cancelled all White Hours tours as the government could not afford the costs. Without a doubt this was the meanest abuse of power by a politician in my 82 years of life. With no way to reschedule or receive refunds Obama ruined a spring vacation to observe American history for these kids.
Now that he can’t be re-elected, he can extend his reign of misery for most Americans, including children of the people who re-elected him “Emperor” of the Universe, or that’s what he believes he is.
President Barack Obama’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, are spending their spring break from school in the Bahamas. The luxury of your tax money was supported by a rash of opinions ranging from comments that the girls need to relax due to all the stress of being in the White House to other comments that were extremely critical of the young girls being on such a costly trip when the nation’s economy is dealing with a severe budget crisis which has forced Obama to close the White House to public tours.
Let me refresh your memory of Malia’s spring break last year. Judicial Watch had to file suit to obtain this information as the White House fought to keep this from public view. They will do the same this year for sure.
Take a look at the following expenses of the March 2012 trip.
Ground transportation: $23,964.81
Lodging: $21,682.92
Airfare: $47,767.34
“Vouchers”: $21,636.14 (not itemized)
Support Charges: $449.66 (travel for one from Mexico City to Oaxaca, not itemized)
Total $115,500.87 plus the expenses and salaries for 25 Secret Service agents, but who cares?
This 2012 spring break trip erupted in controversy after the Obama White House ordered the removal of press reports detailing the trip. On March 19,2012, numerous online press outlets reported that the president’s 13-year-old daughter, Malia, was on a Spring Break trip to Mexico accompanied by 25 U.S. Secret Service Agents and as many as 12 of her friends. However, shortly after the press reports surfaced they were quickly removed from the Internet. The trip took place shortly after the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a statement advising students on Spring Break “to avoid Mexico.”
Last year the President of Judicial Watch, Tom Finton, asked “In these economic times, with huge public debt and high unemployment, spending taxpayer funds on a Spring Break trip to Mexico is inappropriate. Is this what Americans are being asked to pay higher taxes for?”
The National media still refuses to report these luxurious waste of our tax payer’s money for both the Executive, Congressional and Judicial branches of our government, why? With the debts our nation faces, there is no justification for these vacations and ego trips like Biden’s recent trip to London and Paris, I recently reported.
The taxpayers owe a debt of gratitude to organizations like Judicial Watch for climbing these legal walls of secrecy that we have permitted the government to erect.
President Obama, do what you promised the American people, “Tear down these walls”. With some hard work you can climb one notch above Jimmy Carter and be the second worst President in my lifetime.
