“POLITICALLY CORRECT” – WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?

Now that we have a Supreme Court that makes decisions based on “Compassion” rather than the laws of the land the term “politically correct” means different things to different people?

Webster defines this term “Full Definition of POLITICALLY CORRECT:  conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated. This appears to be the reason SCOTUS voted to ignore the law on same-sex marriages.

Wikipedia uses a broader term “Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct, commonly abbreviated to PC) is a pejorative term used to criticize language, actions, or policies seen as being excessively calculated to not offend or disadvantage any particular group of people in society”. This appears to be the definition that SCOTUS used to force the Affordable Care Act down our throat.

My how times have changed and to illustrate my reason for publishing this article let me share some facts. My old friend Bob McGraw shared some real American history facts that possibly reveal the true definition of the term “Politically Correct” by the most honest President we have ever been blessed with. The language is a little raw but if you remember the pressures were somewhat more intense in the world at that particular time.

BOB’s STORY

Although I consider myself rather fluent in the English language, the term “Politically Correct” was not in my vocabulary. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to do a little research, and after two weeks of chasing fruitless leads, I found what I’d been looking for at the Truman Library and Museum, in Independence Missouri.

An unnamed source there sent me copies of four telegrams that were exchanged by President Harry S. Truman and General of the Army Douglas A. MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the Japanese Surrender Agreement.

The contents of those four telegrams exhibited below are exactly as received, not a word having been added or deleted:

(1) Tokyo, Japan 0800-September 1, 1945

To: President Harry S Truman

From: General D A MacArthur

Tomorrow we meet with those yellow bellied bastards and sign the Surrender Documents, any last minute instructions!

(2) Washington, D C 1300-September 1, 1945

To: D A MacArthur

From: H S Truman

Congratulations, job well done, but you must tone down your obvious dislike of the Japanese when discussing the terms of the surrender with the press, because some of your remarks are fundamentally not politically correct!

(3) Tokyo, Japan 1630-September 1, 1945

To: H S Truman

From: D A MacArthur and C H Nimitz

Wilco Sir, but both Chester and I are somewhat confused, exactly what does the term politically correct mean?

(4) Washington, D C 2120-September 1, 1945

To: D A MacArthur/C H Nimitz

From: H S Truman

Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by  a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of sh** by its clean end!

So with special thanks to my friends at the Truman Museum, and of course Harry, you now have a full understanding of what “POLITICAL CORRECTNESS” really means!

My friends, you can see that when Democrats were actually politically conservative they despised the bias that they now promote as the American way. Using Johnny Paycheck’s terms adjusted for my purpose;

“Democrats take your “Change” and shove it.”

“SCOTUS” OR “PCOTUS”????

SCOTUS, The acronym for the Supreme Court of the United States has been in use for several years, apparently among young people who don’t know that S. CT has been the abbreviation in use for generations, if not centuries. Merriam-Webster.

I used to respect this group of nine supposedly honest, ethical, educated jurists who are appointed to evaluate legal disputes and render decisions based on the law, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I am also well-educated, a successful businessman and apparently spend more time watching the destruction of our freedoms than all nine of them. There is one major difference, I am not, and never intended to be a lawyer. I lost respect for and I have little confidence in any lawyer who has to be a politician to make a living. This brings me to explain my word, “PCOTUS” which is the correct definition of what used to be our Supreme Court. These nine people no longer deserve to have the word “Supreme” as any part of their title.

PCOTUS, my acronym for the Political Court of the United States which should be the official title. Seeing this court diminish into nothing more than rendering political opinions that help the political part they support. I have read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and understand the laws of the land. These documents are not mysteries written as a novel to see if you can solve a crime. I will admit some laws like the Affordable Care Act, (ACA,) currently under review by “Pcotus” is one of the best mysterious documents ever produced by any Congress.  Year by year the army of Congressional lawyers who suck on the government teat astound me in how they have mastered the art of distortion and secrecy in laws that the average American would never understand. It appears that over my lifetime Law Schools must have included courses in “Chicanery”, “Political Justice” as well as “Distortion”. It appears that some law schools have also included lying, misrepresentation and unethical methods. I have several grandchildren who are lawyers and let me be clear that my feelings about lawyers is focused on those elected or working in any government position. Even though some these grandchildren are Liberal, it appears they have the ability to make an honest living. They all have enough common sense to know right from wrong.

The current case regarding the ACA is just another screw up by the lawyers who wrote the act and the 100% democratic vote to enact it without even reading the words. It is no secret that Obama and every Democrat would abolish all State laws if they could. It would not surprise me to see Obama try to do this by executive order.

PCOTUS has been reviewing this document since it was published. The Progressive-Liberal race to Socialize our Republic found the perfect “Dupe” in President Obama to finish off the socialization of medical care which was the dream of Hillary Clinton 25 years ago. The only roadblock the Democrats have had for the past several years is that they can’t get at least five Justices on the “Political Court” to change the Constitution to support mandatory Socialism. Even many of our Republican Presidents have been supporters of this change and some running now just hide behind smoke screens to get elected. We will likely see the “PCOTUS” ignore the law again as they have done previously when Justice Roberts sold out and ignored States Rights in a previous decision.

These Justices are holding lifetime jobs, make rather nice salaries for working about three months a year and at least four of them just ignore the laws of the land. Just because Obama ignores the laws we have four Justices who just vote as a block to support his agenda. The media has already ruled that any decision that makes Congress fix the mess will be unfair to too many people. Compassion is not a government decision, it’s either lawful or unlawful.

If President Obama and the 100% Democratic vote to create the ACA was wrong then Congress must fix it themselves. Sadly politics used to be limited to two legs of our government, the Legislative and Executive branches. Laws are now enforced as fairness rather than what is right or wrong under the law.

Now that I hope I have your attention let me introduce you to the current “PCOTUS” members. To make sure you see no age bias I am older than all nine of them as I will be 85 on August 31st. Statistics that I will share have thankfully not caught up with me yet. None of us have a contract for our lifespan and I am blessed. I hope and pray that the Justices are also blessed. Ruth Ginsburg (82) was born March 15, 1933. Antonin Scalia (79) was born March 11, 1936. Anthony Kennedy (78) was born July 23, 1936. Stephen Breyer (76) was born August 15, 1938. Samuel Alito (65) was born April 1, 1950. Sonia Sotomayor (60) was born June 25, 1954. John Roberts (60) was born January 27, 1955. The baby, Elena Kagan (55) was born April 28, 1960. I have one daughter older than the last four and two more children older than the last three.

I did some research to let you see how comfortable you feel having elderly (65+) Justices. Americas leading causes of death after 65 is; 1. A Heart Attack, 2. Cancer, 3. A Stroke, 4. Is a tie, COPD and Diabetes. 5. Pneumonia/Influenza. The health issue that scares me the most is Alzheimer’s. I read that roughly 19% of men will contact this horrible disease if they live long enough. It is only about 13% for women. Based on the mass of five to four votes to decide whether something is lawful or un-lawful tends to reflect that we likely have some Justices who might be having problems.

Every employee that is over 65 and draws a check from the government should have to be tested for Dementia and then once every year if they continue to serve. If all 535  members of Congress were made to take this test, regardless of age, we would not have to worry about term limits. I doubt that half of them could pass 12th grade exams.

If none of the PCOTUS members die before or after the next President is sworn-in, the balance of power in this Court will change the course of history. If the Progressive-Liberal democrats, likely Hillary Clinton, is our next President there will never be another conservative government elected. We have seen what our hate-filled President and a conservative Congress have accomplished, “Nothing”. This will be the end of our two-party government as the rules to elect our President will be changed to eliminate the weighted Electoral College method.

I suppose I should just ignore what is happening, live out my days ignoring the loss of freedoms we have already given up. That is what most Americans seem to desire including some in my own family. That will not happen as long as I am alive and I do hope my heirs have a better life than I have lived.

I proudly display my Conservative views with a bumper sticker on my car. It has a picture of an Eagle with the following words;

“I WILL FIGHT SOCIALISM UNTIL HELL FREEZES OVER, THEN I WILL FIGHT ON THE ICE!

SENIOR CITIZENS BEWARE – PART TWO

Well it took me nearly four years and over 800 articles to successfully stir up a hornets nest. The “Senior Citizens Beware” article I posted recently, sharing the actual experience of a man in Arizona, finally stirred up some Liberals. The recap of his encounter with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), or as it is better known, “Obamacare” flushed out some rather radical feedback. Next let me thank everyone that took the time to at least comment, both pro and con as feedback is always a sign that someone at least read your work. I have recapped some of the negative comments I received;

  1. Blatant Liar
  2. George Bush created the problem with “Medical Observations” not Obamacare.
  3. The problem with non-payment for “Medical Observations” has nothing to do with the ACA.
  4. My article is “Completely Inaccurate”
  5. I am a “hypocrite”.

You are free to read every word except #5 if you go to the published article on WordPress. I always approve every comment I receive if the language is civil, even the ones questioning my creditability and/or my sanity. The “hypocrite” accusation came by E mail from one of my golfing friends who said Lyndon Johnson was the creator of Medicare and my being on Medicare and criticizing it was dishonest.

This week I listened to President Obama stand with a straight face on TV and make the following statements;

  1. Our economy is the best shape it has ever been.
  2. Unemployment is not a problem anymore.
  3. I have elevated the respect for America worldwide as when I was elected it lower than China or Russia.

I feel sure my Progressive-Liberal critics and the entire national media would argue and complain about my wording. As usual they will all ignore Obama’s “blatant lies”. If the word “liar” had a picture beside it in a dictionary to describe what a liar looks like it would be President Obama. History will record that Obama was the most successful “Con Man” that ever lived on Earth. No one ever has or ever will be able to divide free people and destroy a nation faster than he has. He has surpassed Hitler in the speed of destroying a nation.

Let me share some facts for anyone who reads my articles, especially the ones who do not know me or my creditability. I volunteered to serve in the US Navy at 17. I spent 32 years in senior management positions for two fortune 500 companies. I started nine different businesses in three countries. I passed the Mensa Exam at the 99th percentile and was honored to be a member of Mensa and Intertel. I worked or visited in 32 countries and 49 states. I wrote a “Standard” for the American Petroleum Institute as an individual instead of by committee. I trained over 30,000 individuals in nine different countries in multiple subjects. I passed the Professional Engineering exam without a technical Degree. I received a Master’s Degree in Management with a GPA of 3.92 without an undergraduate degree. I chaired a National ASME Committee on Offshore oil and Gas Safety Valves for several years. I designed a Quality Management Systems for over 200 companies worldwide. I doubt that some of my own family know all of this.

My parents and God gave me a mind and I choose to fill and use it. I am one of very few people who actually achieved the self-satisfaction of meeting or exceeding every goal I ever set for myself. I am married to my second wife for over 54 years. I currently have 43 kids, grandkids and great grandkids, including spouses. Five are doctors, three are lawyers, several hold technical degrees or serve in management positions or business owners, one is a CPA and four are teachers or education specialists. One is also a member of Mensa and Intertel and passed the exam at 14. They range in age from one to sixty-six and I love them all.

I am fortunate to have many close friends who share their knowledge and correspondence with me that I selectively publish to share knowledge or create articles that are obviously ultraconservative as advertised by the title of my WordPress Blog. I usually try to identify my sources and I don’t or ever will question their honesty or ethics. If you disagree with my articles I always encourage and approve all comments.

Let me summarize the reason I published this article. If my writing annoys, upsets, causes you to suffer in any way, I did not make you read it. Maybe you should “STOP READING MY WORK!”

Until Obama, Hillary or other Progressive-Liberal nut cases get the first Amendment to the Constitution repealed I will write whatever I choose, whenever I choose as long as my two fingers can type. Learning requires full knowledge of a subject and I read more Liberal drivel than you would ever believe. I write to keep my old mind active and there are no charges to read my work. Like subsistence Obama provides for over 40 million lazy Americans it is free. If my writing makes you mad like it does to one of my daughters and two granddaughters, so be it.

For anyone who takes the time to read this and is older than 85, I honor you with my respect. For those younger my first wish is for you to be fortunate enough to live this long. My second wish is that you will share your knowledge and experiences with others.

Writing this article made me feel real good about the life I have lived and I hope it makes at least one other freedom loving American smile. Smiling is a way to make others smile, try it yourself.

SENIOR CITIZENS BEWARE!

It appears some of us have lived to long for Obama and the “Demoncrats” (not misspelled). For anyone over 70 life will be limited, like it or not. I received this from another old friend Allan Moore and just want to share it with as many as possible. Even though you may be younger, growing older may be government limited. Thank your Congressman that gave us the medical finger wave the doctor used to perform. My local hospital administrator commented on this and said it appeared that he should have been to the ER. She also told me there were some circumstances where medical observations could have been covered by Medicare. Regardless life for us old people will never be the same until Congress straightens out this can of worms no one seems to understand.  Seniors it looks like it’s time to get your funeral arrangements completed. C Brewer

Letter from a senior gentleman in Mesa, Arizona:

Dear Family, Friends, Neighbors, and former Classmates, I just found myself in the middle of a medical situation that made it very clear that “the Affordable Care Act” is neither affordable, nor do they care.

I’ll go back about seven years ago to a fairly radical prostate surgery that I underwent.  The Urologist (a personal Friend) who performed the surgery was very concerned that it was cancer, though I wasn’t told this until the lab report revealed it was benign.

Since that procedure, I have experienced numerous urinary tract infections, UTI’s.  Since I had never had a “UTI” prior to the prostate surgery, I assumed that it is one of the side effects from surgery, an assumption since confirmed by my Family Doctor.

The weekend of March 8-9, I was experiencing all the symptoms of another bout of UTI.  By Monday afternoon the infection had hit with full force.  Knowing that all I needed was an antibiotic, I went to an Urgent Care Center in Mesa, AZ, to provide a specimen a requirement for getting the prescription.

After waiting 45 minutes to see the Doctor, I started getting very nauseous and light headed.

I went to the Receptionist to ask where the bathroom was, as I felt that I was going to throw up.  I was told that I would have to wait for the Doctor because I would have to leave a specimen and they didn’t want me in the bathroom without first seeing him.

That was when the lights went out.  My next awareness was that of finding myself on the floor (in the waiting room) having violent dry heaves, and very confused.  At this point, I tried to stand up but couldn’t make it, and they made it very clear they weren’t going to let me get up until the ambulance got there.  By the way, when you’re waiting to see the Doctor and you pass out, you get very prompt attention.

Now, “the rest of the story”, and the reason for sending this to so many of you.

I was taken to the nearest hospital, to emergency.  Once there, I was transported to an emergency examination room.  Once I had removed my clothes and donned one of those lovely hospital gowns, I finally got to see a Doctor.  I asked “what is going on?  I’m just having a UTI.  Just get me the proper medication and let me go home.”  He told me that my symptoms presented the possibility of sepsis, a potentially deadly migration of Toxins, and that they needed to run several tests to determine how far the infection had migrated.

For the next 3 hours I was subjected to several tests, blood draws, EKG’s, and demands for specimens.  At about 7:30 the nurse came back to my room to inform me that one of the tests takes 1- 2 days to complete.  I asked if they (the results) could be emailed, at which point she informed me that I wouldn’t need them emailed because I wasn’t going anywhere.  I started arguing with her, but was told, “If you don’t start behaving, I’ll start taking your temperature rectally,” at which point I became a perfect gentleman.  I did tell her I wanted to see the doctor because I had no intention of staying overnight.

Now, this is what I want each of you to understand.  Please read these next sentences carefully.  The doctor finally came in to inform me that he was going to admit me.  I said, “Are you admitting me for treatment or for observation?”  He told me that I would be admitted for observation. I said, “Doctor, correct me if I’m wrong, but if you admit me for observation, my Medicare will not pay anything.  This due to the Affordable Care Act.”   He said,”That’s right, it won’t.”

I then grabbed for my bag of clothing and said, “Then I’m going home.”  He said you’re really too sick to be going home, but I understand your position.  This health program is going to hit seniors especially hard.

The doctor then left the room and I started getting dressed.  I was just getting ready to put my shoes on when another doctor (the closer) came into the room.  He saw me dressed and said, “Where do you think you are going?”  I simply said “I’m going home.”  To which he replied, quite vociferously, “No you aren’t.  I said, “Doc, you and I both know that under the “Affordable Care Act” anyone on Medicare who is admitted to a hospital for observation will be responsible for the bill.  Medicare won’t pay a cent.”

At which point he nodded in affirmation.  I said, “You will either admit me for a specific treatment or you won’t admit me.”  Realizing he wasn’t going to win this one, he said he would prepare my release papers.  A few minutes later, the discharge nurse came to my room to have me sign the necessary papers, relieving them from any responsibility.  I told her I wasn’t trying to be obstinate, but I wasn’t going to be burdened with the full (financial) responsibility for my hospital stay.

After making sure the door was closed, she said, “I don’t blame you at all, I would do the same thing.”  She went on to say, “You wouldn’t believe the people who elect to leave for the same reasons, people who are deathly sick, people who have to be wheeled out on a gurney.”  She further said, “The ‘Affordable Care Act’ is going to be a disaster for seniors. Yet, if you are in this country illegally, and have no coverage, you will be covered in full.”

This is not internet hype folks, this is real.  I just experienced it personally.

Moving right along, this gets worse.

Today I went to a (required) follow up appointment with my Arizona Family Practitioner.  Since my white count was pretty high, the follow up was important.  During the visit, I shared the experience at emergency, and that I had refused to be admitted.  His response was, “I don’t blame you at all, I would have done the same thing.”  He went on to say that the colonoscopy and other procedures are probably going to be dropped from coverage for those over 70.”

I told him that I had heard that the “Affordable Care Act” would no longer pay for cancer treatment for those 76 and older, is that true?  His understanding is that it is true.  The more I hear, and experience the Affordable Care Act, the more I’m beginning to see that we seniors are nothing more than an inconvenience, and the sooner they can get rid of us the better off they’ll be.

We can have an impact on this debacle by letting everyone in Congress know that their responsibility is to the constituents, not the president and not the lobbyists.  We need to let them ALL know that they are in office to serve and to look after the BEST INTERESTS of “we the people,” their employers, and not to become self-serving Bureaucrats who serve only out of greed.  And if they don’t seem to understand this simple logic, we should fire them. However, our vote is becoming useless!

REMEMBER: Demand your hospital admission is for TREATMENT and NOT for OBSERVATION!

SEND THIS TO EVERY SENIOR AND ALL MILITARY (ACTIVE OR VET) AND LET THEM KNOW THIS IS HOW OUR REPRESENTATIVES ON CAPITOL HILL TREAT THOSE WHO RISK IT ALL SO THEY CAN SIT UP THERE AND ENJOY ALL THE BENEFITS THEY EXEMPT FROM THE REST OF US.

This is sad.  C Brewer

AFFORDABLE BOAT ACT!

Hot off the presses……….Ron Jenkins just forwarded this new Executive Order from the White House. I made some minor adjustments to the press release for obvious reasons. You can decide if this is the usual “common sense” actions enacted by the Obamanuts? C Brewer

The new Law and 500 new Government Regulations will be called: “The Affordable Boat Act” declaring that every American citizen MUST purchase a new boat, by April 2014.

These “affordable” boats will cost an average of $54,000-$155,000 each. This does not include taxes, trailers, towing fees, licensing and registration fees, fuel, docking and storage fees, maintenance or repair costs.

This law has been passed, because until now, typically only wealthy and financially responsible people have been able to purchase boats. This new laws ensures that every American can now have an “affordable” boat of their own, because everyone is “entitled” to a new boat. If you purchase your   boat before the end of the year, you will receive 4 “free” life jackets; not including monthly usage fees.

In order to make sure everyone purchases an affordable boat, the costs of owning a boat will increase on average of 250-400% per year. This way, wealthy people will pay more for something that other people don’t want or can’t afford to maintain. But to be fair, people who can’t afford to maintain their boat will be regularly fined and children (under the age of 26) can use their parent’s boats to party on until they turn 27; then must purchase their own boat.

If you already have a boat, you can keep yours (just kidding; no you can’t). If you don’t want or don’t need a boat, you are required to buy one anyhow. If you refuse to buy one or can’t afford one, you will be regularly fined $800 until you purchase one or face imprisonment.

Failure to use the boat will also result in fines. People living in the desert; ghettos; inner cities or areas with no access to lakes are not exempt. Age, motion sickness, experience, knowledge nor lack of desire are acceptable excuses for not using your boat.

A Government Review Board (that doesn’t know the difference between the port starboard or stern of a boat) will decide everything, including; when, where, how often and for what purposes you can use your boat along with how many people can ride your boat and determine if one is too old or healthy enough to be able to use their boat. They will also decide if your boat has out lived its usefulness or if you must purchase specific accessories, (like a $500 compass) or a newer and more expensive boat.

Those that can afford yachts will be required to do so…it’s only fair.

The government will also decide the name for each boat. Failure to comply with these rules will result in fines and possible imprisonment.

Congress and their staff, all Executive Branch Government Employees and all Federal and Supreme Court Judges are exempt from this new law. If they want a boat, they and their families can obtain boats free, at the expense of tax payers.  Unions, bankers and mega companies with large political affiliations ($$$) are also exempt.

If the government can force you to buy health care, they can force you to buy a boat….or ANYTHING else.

Yes…the “Affordable Care Act” is also just this stupid.

ANON

AMERICAN VETERAN SHARES HIS CONCERNS!

I received this from another veteran and decided to post it unchanged before Memorial Day. He certainly expresses my concerns and it would be an honor to meet this true Patriot someday.  C Brewer

April 3, 2013

Senator Patty Murray

 Senator Maria  Cantwell

 Washington, DC, 20510

Dear Senator:

I have tried to live by the rules my entire life. My father was a Sergeant Major, U.S. Army, who died of combat related stresses shortly after his retirement. It was he who instilled in me those virtues he felt important – honesty, duty, patriotism and obeying the laws of God and of our various governments. I have served my country, paid my taxes, worked hard, volunteered and donated my fair share of money, time and artifacts.

Today, as I approach my 79th birthday, I am heart-broken when I look at my country and my government. I shall only point out a very few things abysmally wrong which you can multiply by a thousand fold. I have calculated that all the money I have paid in income taxes my entire life cannot even keep the Senate barbershop open for one year! Only Heaven and a few tight-lipped actuarial types know what the Senate dining room costs the taxpayers. So please, enjoy your haircuts and meals on us.

Last year, the president spent an estimated 1.4 $billion on himself and his family. The vice president spends $millions on hotels. They have had 8 vacations so far this year! And our House of Representatives and Senate have become America’s answer to the Saudi royal family. You have become the “perfumed princes and princesses” of our country.

In the middle of the night, you voted in the Affordable Health Care Act, a.k.a. “Obama Care,” a bill which no more than a handful of senators or representatives read more than several paragraphs, crammed it down our throats, and then promptly exempted yourselves from it substituting   your own taxpayer-subsidized golden health care insurance.

You live exceedingly well, eat and drink as well as the “one  percenters,” consistently vote yourselves perks and pay raises while making  3.5 times the average U.S. individual income, and give up nothing while you  (as well as the president and Veep) ask us to sacrifice due to sequestration  (for which, of course, you plan to blame the Republicans, anyway).

You understand very well the only two rules you need to know – (1) How to get elected, and (2) How to get re-elected. And you do this with  the aid of an eagerly willing and partisan press, speeches permeated with a  certain economy of truth, and by buying the votes of the greedy, the  ill-informed and under-educated citizens (and non-citizens, too, many of  whom do vote) who are looking for a handout rather than a job.  Your so-called “safety net” has become a hammock for the lazy. And, what is it now, about 49 or 50 million on food stamps – pretty much all Democrat  voters – and the program is absolutely rife with fraud with absolutely no  congressional oversight?

I would offer that you are not entirely to blame. What changed you is the seductive environment of power in which you have immersed yourselves. It is the nature of both houses of Congress which requires you to subordinate your virtue in order to get anything done until you have achieved a leadership role. To paraphrase President Reagan, it appears that the second oldest profession (politics), bears a remarkably strong resemblance to the oldest.

As the hirsute first Baron John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton (1834 – 1902), English historian and moralist, so aptly and accurately stated, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  Great men are almost always bad men.”  I’m only guessing that this applies to the female sex as well. Tell me, is there a more corrupt entity in this country than Congress?

While we middle class people continue to struggle, our government becomes less and less transparent, more and more bureaucratic, and ever so much more dictatorial, using Czars and Secretaries to tell us (just to mention a very few) what kind of light bulbs we must purchase, how much soda or hamburgers we can eat, what cars we can drive, gasoline to use, and what health care we must buy. Countless thousands of pages of regulations strangle our businesses costing the consumer more and more every day.

As I face my final year, or so, with cancer, my president and my government tell me “You’ll just have to take a pill,” while you, Senator, your colleagues, the president, and other exulted government officials and their families will get  the best possible health care on our tax dollars until you are called home by your Creator while also enjoying a retirement beyond my wildest dreams, which of course, you voted for yourselves and we pay for.

The chances of you reading this letter are practically zero as  your staff will not pass it on, but with a little luck, a form letter response might be generated by them with an auto signature applied, hoping  we will believe that you, our senator or representative, has heard us and  actually cares.  This letter will, however, go on line where many others will have the chance to read one person’s opinion, rightly or wrongly, about this government, its administration and its senators and representatives.

I only hope that occasionally you might quietly thank the taxpayer for all the generous entitlements which you have voted yourselves, for which, by law, we must pay, unless, of course, it just goes on the $17 trillion national debt for which your children and ours, and your grandchildren and ours, ad infinitum, must eventually try to pick up the tab.

My final thoughts are that it must take a person who has either lost his or her soul, or conscience, or both, to seek re-election and continue to destroy this country I deeply love and put it so far in debt that we will never pay it off while your lot improves by the minute, because of your power. For you, Senator, will never stand up to the rascals in your House who constantly deceive the American people. And that, my dear Senator, is how power has corrupted you and the entire Congress. The only answer to clean up this cesspool is term limits. This, of course, will kill the goose that lays your golden eggs. And woe be to him (or her) who would dare to bring it up.

Sincerely,

Bill Schoonover

God bless this great American for expressing my feelings so adequately.  C B

“OBAMA SCARE”, Affordable Care Act or ACA?

“OBAMA SCARE”, Affordable Care Act or ACA?

I have ordered the book noted at the end of this message and I hope everyone who votes will read the entire book.

Here is how complete implementation will affect the average American taxpayer, those who have not been exempted from it already by the President.  Answer’s are complex and depend on who you are – a college student, senior on Medicare, uninsured, self-employed, has a pre-existing health condition or get insurance through your employer.

One thing is certain: Obama Care will restructure the way healthcare is delivered in significant ways we will all feel. Regardless of your political views – whether you like what the law sets out to do or believe it is the wrong way to go – change is coming your way.

In fact, it’s already begun with many provisions already in place, or soon to roll out, in the following five key ways that will alter healthcare for Americans. Facts are facts

1. Medicare Changes

The presidential campaign has turned Medicare into a political football, with Democrats and Republicans. Each side is accusing the other side of seeking to cut or gut the federal government’s health insurance program for Americans age 65 and older and the disabled.

Under Obamacare, Medicare reductions would add up to $716 billion in 10 years, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. (Interestingly, that figure is identical to Paul Ryan’s 2013 budget proposal. Healthcare experts believe those reductions will largely leave Medicare unchanged for Americans 55 and older. But the real changes come in 2022. Predictably perhaps, Republicans and Democrats have different ideas about how to preserve Medicare down the road.)

Those reductions in reimbursement to hospitals, insurers and the Medicare Advantage program (by about $68 less per month, according to the Congressional Budget Office) could lead to cuts in benefits and services for some seniors, even though Obama Care does not specify what they might be.

Medicare changes also close the so-called “donut hole” in drug coverage, giving seniors a break on their out-of-pocket costs for medications. But other changes could occur to Medicare as a result of the new healthcare law that could affect their care and costs.

For instance, higher-income earners — individuals earning $85,000 or higher, couples exceeding $170,000 — will receive reduced subsidies to pay for drugs. Obama Care also raises Medicaid payment rates to primary care doctors to Medicare levels in 2014, which some argue could dilute or compromise the level of care given seniors.

Obama Care also creates a panel of experts, known as the Independent Payment Advisory Board, empowered to force Medicare cuts if costs rise beyond certain levels and Congress fails to act. Although the law explicitly prohibits the board from rationing care, shifting costs to retirees, restricting benefits or increasing the Medicare eligibility age, critics believe the IPAB could recommend changes that could lead to rationing.

The board has yet to be named, and its members would ultimately have to be confirmed by the Senate.

2. Price Controls

Will Obama Care limit soaring health costs for healthcare for most Americans? It’s too early to say for sure. But it seems unlikely, at least in the short run.

Obama Care aims to cover uninsured Americans by expanding Medicaid and the “individual mandate” requiring everyone to have insurance or pay a tax. Those moves could hold down healthcare costs over time because many of the 37 million uninsured Americans seek care through hospital Emergency Rooms for dire problems that are more costly to treat, than prevent or manage (such as heart attacks, infections and complications from chronic conditions).

Costs are now borne by taxpayers and people with insurance.

Obama Care proponents have argued people who have insurance are more likely to work with their doctors to manage chronic conditions – such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer – in ways that are less expensive, up front, than hospital care and may help head off serious problems down the road.

But since the law’s signing in 2010, costs and premiums have been increasing. According to the non-partisan Health Care Cost Institute, U.S. healthcare spending grew at a faster pace last year than in the previous two years, when increases in costs actually slowed.

Health insurers have also projected premiums will continue to rise – at least 2-3 percent per year– and nothing in the law bars insurance companies from passing along those increases to policy holders.

But the true acid test may be found in Massachusetts. Under the Romney Care plan, the template for Obama Care, signed into law in 2006, the number of uninsured residents dropped to the lowest level in the country (3 percent), but insurance premiums have risen to the highest cost of any state in the nation for a family of four, according to the Commonwealth Fund. Ooops!

3. Doctor Practices

One unanswered question about Obama Care that could affect consumers: Will the law drive changes in doctor practices that could worsen physician shortages?

Polls of doctors suggest the answer may be yes. A survey of 2,400 physicians conducted in 2010 for the Physicians Foundation found 40 percent would “retire, seek a non-clinical job in health care or seek a job unrelated to health care” during the next three years. Investor’s Business Daily predicted as many as 360,000 physicians could leave the profession, based on a 2009 forecast survey of 1,300 doctors.

ACA supporters have argued the survey is not a true measurement of physician sentiment, since it came at the height of national debate over Obama Care.

But the truth is no one can predict how the medical profession may respond to the coming changes. One thing is clear, however: the nation is already experiencing a doctor shortage; with the Associate of American Medical Colleges estimating by 2015 the nation will need 60,000 more doctors than the U.S. is expected to have. Adding another 37 million uninsured Americans to insurance rolls and Medicaid, as Obama Care aims to do, is likely to add to the problems caused by existing doctor shortages.

4. Unwritten Provisions

Some impacts of the new law are unpredictable simply because many provisions have yet to be written and Congress must still authorize funding for some of them.

For instance, federal health officials (Health & Human Services – HHS) have yet to identify “essential health benefits” that insurers will be required to provide. Although experts expect those benefits will be comparable to what is now offered through typical employer-based health plans (that now cover about 150 million Americans), the details have not been determined. It’s also unclear how effectively the states – or federal government – will be in expanding Medicaid and creating new “healthcare exchanges” designed to allow millions to purchase affordable, high-quality individual plans.

As we saw with the controversy over just one early provision of Obama Care — the question of insurance coverage for contraception, which the Catholic Church and others vehemently opposed — many similarly contentious measures may be similarly difficult to resolve and implement.

5. Independent Payment Advisory Board

One controversial aspect of Obama Care involves the creation of a presidential commission called the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). This board of 15 experts – chosen by the president and approved by the Senate – will be empowered to cut Medicare spending and make other healthcare decisions independently, unless counteracted by a three-fifths “super-majority” vote in Congress.

The driving idea behind the IPAB’s creation is that the board would be able to make tough budgetary decisions that might be politically difficult for Congress or the president to implement (such as additional Medicare reductions). But because the IPAB won’t be elected, critics argue the board could wield enormous powers and increase government control over of the nation’s health care system.

As is true with many aspects of Obama Care, the devil will be in the details of the law’s implementation. And, like the IPAB itself, Obama Care is very much a work in progress.

The true test of the law’s viability will likely come in 2014, when Obama Care’s most significant and costly provisions are implemented – including the individual mandate that all Americans have insurance, the expansion of Medicaid and the creation of the new state “healthcare exchanges” designed to give individuals without insurance through their employers or government programs the ability to choose affordable insurance plans with guaranteed “essential health benefits.”

These facts are presented by Nick Tate who is the author of the Obama Care Survival Guide: The Affordable Care Act and What it Means for You and Your Healthcare,” published by Humanix Books.
