HELP EVEN THE PLAYING FIELD!

The recent decision by our President to ignore the laws of the land regarding illegal immigration has upset me deeply. He has thumbed his nose at so many laws he feels are unnecessary, I am trying to compile a list of questions on why citizens are expected to follow any laws that do not threaten others. Like permits, licenses, government services that are collected to support welfare and fees like stamps, gas taxes, etc.

I am asking you to send me any questions you may have that seem unfair to those who actually work and pay taxes to support illegals and the masses on welfare who have advantages others do not enjoy.

Even in Socialists countries, many I have visited or worked in, make every able bodied citizen pay for government services if they receive them.

If you are also upset then help me by sending me specific regulations, laws, taxes, fees, etc that you question. I will compile the significant items into an article and give credit for your inputs. This should make for interesting discussion and possibly encourage Congress to re-adjust its priorities. The media really does not care if bias is unfair.

You can comment easily on this article, or use Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or send me an E mail. This unfairness is so complex I do not desire to try this alone.

“VOTE WHILE YOU STILL CAN”!

My great friend, Ron Jenkins sent me what he coined as his “Ramblings”. I chose the title after reading this and with his permission I am proud to post it for as many as possible to read as possible. Ron is a retired Air Force officer living in San Antonio Texas. C Brewer

“RAMBLINGS”

What follows is a distinctly partisan appeal. Be you a Democrat or Republican, I hope you take 60 seconds to read it.

It is not meant to offend; however, I trust that since it cites this person’s perception of a failed Presidency and Administration, the comments will not be received with acceptence or cordiality by some. You are free to delete it at this point.

If you are happy or satisfied with the way our country is being run, so be it.  If you are dissatisfied, do something!

It’s incredible, to me, that almost 40% of Americans think our President, his Cabinet and staff Guru’s are doing a good job, despite the lack of economic recovery in the wake of billions of dollars in stimulus money having been misspent on green energy projects, bailing out unions, bailing out big business benefactors and cronies, despite repetitive scandals involving the Justice Department, the IRS, the State and Defense departments and most recently, dubious foreign policy decisions.

I can only surmise that at least two thirds the country has no clue regarding current geo-political events and the danger to our future security and freedom or are totally committed ideologues to the left and right of center.

Did you remember who President Obama threatened, when he wasn’t getting his way with Congress, on raising the national debt ceiling?

The President threatened to cut off funds to: Military Retirees – Social Security Retirees – Disability and Federal

Retirees. He closed down national cemeteries and war memorials, put barricades around open and free parks from Washington, DC. to Hawaii, in a spate of totally corrupt, mean spirited and premeditated decisions.

The President has begun to operate by “fiat”, issuing Executive orders, bypassing our elected representatives, when his desires are not accepted nor followed.  He ordered changes to existing laws (Immigration and health care) without authority and the Congress has done nothing to stop him.  He is threatening the constitutionally established and mandated balance between our three branches of government, our representative form of democracy, independence and freedom.

Now let this sink in really well; the President:

–  did not threaten to stop payments to illegal aliens.

–  did not threaten to take frivolous benefits such as Internet access away from violent prison inmates.

–  did not offer to fire some of the thousands of newly hired federal employees at DHS and IRS.

–  did not offer to cut down on his family vacations; over $30 Million already spent. (millions on his golf outings).

–  did not threaten to withhold the pay to Senators and Representatives, or any of their staff.

–  did not threaten to slow the rise in benefits for welfare recipients or to stop issuing free cell phones.

–  did not threaten to tighten up the eligibility requirements for food stamp recipients.

–  did not threaten to reduce payments of foreign aid to avowed, international adversaries and enemies.

–  did not threaten to cut back on any of the “free stuff” that appeals to his electoral base and political following.

Why have we allowed one person to reduce the most prosperous and powerful nation in the world to just an average, non-exceptional country, that won’t be able to lead the world to peace and prosperity through benevolent Capitalism?

His fundamental changes are de-motivating our country. For example, to promote ObamaCare, he has said to America, if you have stayed in a job, just to receive health care benefits; that is no longer going to be necessary.  You can now work less, a max of 30 hours per week, or, quit altogether, stay home with the kids or pursue your artistic desires and the government will subsidize your health insurance through the higher payments of other American’s, who can’t quit or work fewer hours and still provide for their families, their accustomed life style.

His socialist ideology and philosophy is intent on dragging us down to mediocrity. More central government control, less opportunity for individual achievement and success.

He is determined to make our military weak and less able to protect ourselves and those nations in the cross hairs of world Communism. Remember what has happened in Belarus (2008) and now in the Ukraine.

Do not forget about his tactics when it’s election time 2014. Get out and Vote in the mid-term election.

Support the people in the House & Senate who are willing to cut taxes, spending and our ridiculous federal deficit.

Let’s make 2014 – the beginning of a turn-around.

Forget change.  We want our taxes back, we want to take our country back, and, I’ve barely mentioned ObamaCare!

We can do this if we all vote!

Remember, had all registered Republicans voted in 2011, we would be bashing President Romney now!!

The basis for the arguments cited above are pretty much contained in the 4 short paragraphs below:

The Basic Principles of the American Government.

Although our country and the US Constitution has changed in many aspects, since it was first adopted, its basic principles remain the same now, as in 1789:

The three main branches of government are separate and distinct from one another. The powers given to each are delicately balanced by the powers of the other two. Each branch serves as a check on potential excesses of the others.

The Constitution, together with laws passed according to its provisions, and treaties entered into by the president and approved by the Senate, stands above all other laws, executive acts and regulations.

All persons are equal before the law and are equally entitled to its protection. All states are equal, and none can receive special treatment from the federal government. Within the limits of the Constitution, each state must recognize and respect the laws of the others. State governments, like the federal government, must be democratic in form, with final authority resting with the people.

The people have the right to change their form of national government by legal means defined in the Constitution itself, through their elected representatives.  The nation is therefore a Republic, with a representative form of democracy.

Hope this is motivational!!

WELFARE!

My friend Wally K sent this to me. I have read this before as news like this gets distributed within Texas. For those in other states the Lone Star Card is the food stamp program in Texas. It disturbs me, as I have previously written, watching the abuse of the food stamp program is totally out of reason and control. If this program alone had been initiated in 1932 when all hell broke loose and the banks failed, there would be no United States today and those still alive today would be speaking Japanese. We would have gone broke before 12-7-1941 and could not have funded the war. Guess what ,we are approaching the same fate now and not enough care as our government has gone mad slashing our defense spending so people can sit on their butts and do nothing.

Sadly, we just keep piling up debt with no concern or action to eliminate fraud and waste, because the politicians, 100% of them are afraid that they can’t get re-elected and worse, they are right. People vote for the person who can deliver the free anything. I hope all young people who keep electing these Progressive-Liberals wake up and understand who will have to pay for this waste someday. They have a choice to decide if they want to learn to speak Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or English. My money is on Spanish if the Hispanic leaders can get their act together before China owns the entire country. I was told they bought Smithfield meats today. It appears they own Congress.   C Brewer

“IF YOU CAN’T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU’VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM”.

WRITTEN BY a 21 YEAR OLD FEMALE Wow, this girl has a great plan! Love the last thing she would do…. the best.

This was written by a 21-year-old female who gets it. It’s her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was published in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco, TX

PUT ME IN CHARGE . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dong’s or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid.  Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self-esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self-esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND while you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

WOW!

BIDEN, POOR MANS BEST FRIEND, “NEW ADDITIONS”!

Well the media finally woke up today and Fox News is mow reporting another uncovered expense of this boondoggle. Hopefully the American public might know someday the total waste to let Biden sit and talk with the British PM that would and could have been a telephone call. Now the administration is pumping out excuses like it was normal to travel in this style for our President and Vice-President in the past. All Presidents together have never amassed the wild spending of just the current Obama Robbers. We have never been over sixteen trillion in debt before. We never had 50 million people on welfare before. When will the people wake up and stop listening to this crap. Oh, before I forget to mention Fox reported today that over $321,000 was spent just on limousines which is over and above what is included in the original posting that follows.  CB

This article should convince any hard-working American why the Obama administration is diligently trying to raise taxes on the horrible Americans who have been successful. It is a crying shame we can’t afford to let children tour the White House as the lousy republicans interfere with tax increases.

Vice President Joe Biden’s recent one-day trips to Paris and London cost American taxpayers more than $1,000,000.00.

Biden and his friends rung up a $585,000.50 tab for a single night on Feb. 4 at the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, a luxurious five-star hotel near the Louvre Museum.

The Daily Mail reported that Biden’s group spent $459,388.65 for one night on Feb. 5 at the Hyatt Regency in London, where the vice president met with Prime Minister David Cameron. The contract for the London trip specified 136 hotel rooms for that one-night stay, The Daily Mail reports. To keep him from being lonely his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, accompanied him to Paris on his European trip, which also included a stop in Germany.

The Daily Mail also reported that Biden’s entourage required more than 100 rooms at Le Grand. One night in the presidential suite costs more than $3,800.

This is how the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand describes itself on its website:

“With floodlit views of the Opera House, this superbly renovated luxury hotel is at the heart of Parisian society. “Opened in 1862, it defines historical grandeur, from Café de la Paix to La Verriere Restaurant, set in an 800 square metre winter garden. Elegantly appointed, the hotel’s boutique-style suites overlook stunning landmarks. Located … close to the Louvre Museum, shopping, theatre and banking districts, this luxury Paris hotel is an icon in the City of Light.”

Can you possibly imagine what the total costs of this boondoggle actually costs when all expenses for airfare, security and other meager costs were included?

This should make all of those who have to stand in line for their unemployment checks, welfare payments and food stamps feel really proud to know our government feels their pain.

This certainly did not make old people like me, who have watched Congress and the Obama administration rob us of our savings to share it with the people who “occupy” and “protest” our success, very happy.

Did this make you happier with our current administration? Please tell me why if it did?

I would like to thank Newsmax.com for providing the facts used to make my point.

Federal Reserve System

Recently I have had questions related to the Federal Reserve and the covert side of the financial world. This was published in April 2012 and a Part 2 was published about three days later. I will re-post them both and another one this week and if this captures your interest I will go a notch deeper and re-post some articles I wrote about Tavistock which might perk your interest?  C Brewer

My very close friend, Phil Sizer, has been trying to educate me about the Federal Reserve System for several years. I have read some books and several articles and it is one of the most mystifying subjects I ever tried to understand. I found on eHow.com an article written by Joseph Nicholson that provided me with some history to share. I still lack the knowledge to fully comprehend how this agency, more covert than the CIA, ever came to exists. What really intrigues me is that Congress has no conception of what, why or how they operate. I hope this posting will generate some interest in a lot of Americans to make sure their Congresspersons can explain it before the vote in November. As the news media has never tried to report on the FED, I certainly intend to ask my Representative to explain it to me.  C Brewer

A central bank of the United States has been a covert operation since its inception. Opposition to the bank was the issue that created the Democratic Party. This was the beginning of the modern two party political systems we have today. Since its inception in the early 20th century, the Federal Reserve has steadily assumed more control over U.S. monetary policy and the economy. Progressives had never tried to make giant leaps in change until President Obama started the blitz the day he was sworn in. Progressive’s who created and continue to support a central bank cite Constitutional authority under the “necessary and proper” clause of Article I.

Alexander Hamilton used this when the Bank of the United States was established under his tenure as Treasury secretary in the administration of President Washington. The creation of the central bank was vigorously opposed by then-Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, who said that “banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.” The 20-year charter of the first bank expired in 1811. Five years later a second Bank was created and the struggle to dissolve the bank was the central focus of Andrew Jackson’s populist two-term presidency.

The Federal Reserve System, or (Fed), was created by act of Congress in 1913. The reason was prompted by a banking crisis in 1907. At that time, the dollar was tied to a gold standard. This made it more difficult for the government to borrow money and accumulate budget deficits. The conservative financial interests of that time desired a flexible currency that could fluctuate in value as needed. The central banking concept had proven to be very unpopular in the previous century. Then the banking interests devised a relatively decentralized banking system to oversee a more elastic currency. Woodrow Wilson, who signed the act into law and said a few years later, “I have unwittingly ruined my country … Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be … one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world.”

The power of the Fed over the U.S. economy became more powerful in the 1920’s. New York Fed President Benjamin Strong began the use of open market operations which is a term that refers to the Fed’s ability to purchase U.S. Treasury notes and bonds with fiat banking units, resulting in the increased supply of money in circulation. This started what was known as the Roaring ’20s, a period of financial prosperity and a stock market boom. When reality of the funny money became overt, the banks withdrew the liquidity of the money supply, the stock market crashed and set off the chain of events that resulted in the Great Depression.

During the Depression, Congress passed a myriad of bank changes. The Glass-Steagall Act required U.S. Treasuries as collateral for Federal Reserve lending. This established a limit on the Fed’s power to create money. Congress, in 1935, created the Federal Open Market Committee. This separated the Department of the Treasury and the Fed, and gave the Fed sole power over open market operations and therefore the money supply. Congress, after World War II added the maintenance of maximum employment to the Fed’s mandate. In 1956, the Fed was granted authority to regulate bank holding companies, businesses that own more than one private bank. The Humphrey-Hawkins Act, in 1978, required the Fed chairman to report money policy and goals to Congress twice annually.

In opposition to the first central bank, Thomas Jefferson stated, “If the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around them, will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” In the late 1970s, this prediction came true with double-digit inflation that nearly destroyed America. Congress had removed the dollar from the gold standard a few years earlier which was provided the bankers’ dream for an elastic currency. Fed Chairman Paul Volcker, by raising interest rates and controlling open market operations, gradually removed the financial burdens that had nearly ruined America.

Two months into the tenure of Volcker’s successor, Alan Greenspan, the stock market crashed again. Chairman Greenspan asserted the Fed’s role as “lender of last resort,” promising liquidity, and was able to revive confidence in the U.S. economy. Under Greenspan’s rule, during the Clinton administration, the Glass-Steagall Act was repealed. Banks entered a new 1920s-like era of speculation. The attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, again forced Greenspan to act. He lowered the Fed’s benchmark interest rate to 1 percent, stimulating an economic expansion that ultimately ended with the bursting of the housing market bubble in 2007. Greenspan, however, retired prior to the collapse, leaving the emergency to his successor, Ben Bernanke, who was ultimately forced to drop rates to 0 and to accept less credit-worthy collateral for Fed funds.

January 20, 2009 we were introduced to President Obama and “Change”. What he has done to finish the Socialist dreams of all Progressive’s, will be laughed at by historians for many years. He fully understands that to achieve these dreams, it will require America to go bankrupt. He nearly made it in three years but enough people woke up and slowed the train wreck down and will require another four years to finish the job. What scares me is he looks like he can mesmerize enough women to join his welfare legions to pull this off.

Thanks Phil, I will continue to read and share facts about this covert operation.  CB

IMMIGRATION- LEGALIZED POLITICAL BRIBERY

Being retired provides you more time to read to read and listen. Unfortunately for me it reveals just how rotten the political process has degraded America. As a young man I saw how manipulating the Hispanic voting process in Texas resulted in Lyndon Johnson becoming a U. S. Senator. Johnson as President pushed the socialist agenda to a level that would make FDR look like a conservative. Every president since has manipulated the Hispanic people to join the other welfare dependent voters in an attempt to guarantee re-election. This includes the progressive republicans like Bush.

The Obama administration and all democrats have decided to intensify the manipulation of the Hispanic voters to help get Obama another term as president. The democrats have the people on lifelong welfare and the union votes locked up. With the massive increase in government employees they still need the illegal aliens to assure victory in 2012.

I challenge you to read more about what is happening and I will share some interesting facts to hopefully excite you. A great source is an article by Tom Fitton published on Big Government.com on June 28th.

Anyone who reads or listens to the news, even the democratic main stream media, has been well informed about sanctuary cities. In Texas it is sad that Houston and Austin totally ignore the illegal aliens and in reality protect them from prosecution and deportation. These and other cities are encouraged by the current president and the democrats to ignore the criminal activity. They need every vote possible.

Obama’s Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Cecelia Munoz, a former top official of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) has been successful in massive increased government funding for NCLR. This organization has been receiving government funding for years but Ms. Munoz has this bribery in overdrive. Funding has tripled in the last year.

The Department of Labor provides 60% of the funding. No surprise as it is headed by former congresswoman Hilda Solis with close ties to NCLR. Since she was named Secretary of Labor Ms. Solis has launched a nationwide campaign to protect illegal immigrant workers in the USA. In the latter part of June she made declarations with Guatemala and Nicaragua to preserve the rights of their migrants.

NCLR receives substantial government funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Center for Disease Control. NCLR also has affiliate organizations such as, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) whose federal funding has doubled since Munoz was appointed.

Another social service and legal services organization, Ayuda Inc., which did not receive any federal funding 2005-2008, Ayuda received $1,148,000 from the US Department of Justice in 2009-2010. This company provides immigration law services and guarantees confidentiality to assure illegal aliens they will not be reported to authorities. It would be appreciated by every criminal to have the government to pay to help them evade the law. Woops, that could be underway as the democrats are trying to overturn convicted felons inability to vote. They have had control of the dead people’s votes in some states for many years.

If you are concerned about this, please enter your comments on the blog. If this does not peak your interest, watch for the next posting. It will scare the daylights out of you, especially if you live in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona or California. Wait until you see what “La Raza” has underway for you.

MESSING WITH TEXAS- OBAMA WAY IS CHILDISH REVENGE!

BETTER NOT LIVE IN TEXAS IF YOU WANT ANY SHARE OF FEDERAL DOLLARS.

Politics: Asked last week why he’s so unpopular inTexas, the only thing our president could say was “Republicans.” Now thatTexas has been lashed by tornadoes, his curious refusal to aid the state suggests the depth of his dislike.

Two weeks ago, Texas Gov. Rick Perry pleaded with the president in a 16-page letter to declare a large number ofTexascounties disaster areas after historic wildfires ravaged over a million acres across the state, burning 350 homes and killing three.

A bad combination of hurricane rains, freezing weather and subsequent drought have made ideal conditions for the inferno during this tornado season.

Perry’s request was a routine effort to free up federal disaster funds so the state wouldn’t have to fight the fires alone.Texasshould have been granted it easily.

But to date, nobody’s gotten back to him – though other states with natural disasters, such asOklahomanext door, got the declarations they needed.North Carolinagot its declaration a mere four days after it made its request. So far, the White House seems to be sayingTexascan burn.

This is no isolated incident. In the aftermath of the September 2010 killing of aU.S.citizen byMexico’s Zeta cartel inTexaswaters, Perry pleaded in another letter to the president to send 1,000 extra National Guard troops to the border, warning of a “dire threat amassing on our southern border.”

The response he got was little more than pablum from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano assuring that all was well on the border.

Since then, mass graves have been found on the Mexican side of the border, and they aren’t done digging.

This Monday, Perry announced thatTexaswould finally get its $830 million in promised federal funding for education from the Department of Education after a nine-month delay. Texas alone of all 50 states had been denied its share of the funds as a result of an amendment from an Obama ally, Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Austin, who wrote a special provision into the 2010 federal education jobs bill to require Texas alone to “supplement and not supplant” state education financing through 2013. Perry called it unconstitutional, and it was reversed in the 2011 budget.

If this isn’t a pattern, what is? InTexas, it’s been one thing after another since the president told WFAA-TV inDallaslast week that he’s unpopular in the state because it’s full of conservatives.

What’s more, he suggested they weren’t sufficiently grateful to him. “Gov. Perry helped balance his budget with about $6 billion worth of federal help – which he happily took – and then started blaming the members of Congress who had offered that help,” Obama told a TV interviewer.

Seems the president considers federal funding “his” money – rather than a round trip of cash from the states – deserving of gratitude, and any state that thinks otherwise gets payback, theChicago Way.

Arizona,WisconsinandLouisianahave felt similar stings for defyingWashington.

This kind of ward-heeling behavior may seem logical to Obama, but it’s quite beneath the office of a president who is presumed to govern all the country.

Texas, and the rest of theU.S.for that matter, desperately needs a leader, not a partisan politician whose only fealty is to his political cronies.

Thanks, and don’t forget that B.O. also gutted the manned space program, and then would not let NASA have one of the 4 shuttles, placing 3 on the east coast and one inCalifornia.

He also refused to let UAL and Continental merge unless their HQ was in Chicago and not Houston, and he has shut down offshore drilling in theGulf of Mexicofor a year. He clearly hatesTexas.

Thanks Phil

EDUCATION TEXAS-SALARY FACTS AND FIGURES

Over the past several weeks I have posted a series of articles about the proposed reduction of state funds for educating our children. At this juncture I can make one solid statement that our Governor and Legislature are so wrapped up in politics; they have no concept of the real Texas education administrative costs. Most of the blame expressed by the politicians is waste at the local school district level and action at that level certainly needs focused attention.

I have spent several hours on the internet collecting some actual facts that are available for public review. Although all of the actual figures are not directly related to education, you should find some of the numbers interesting, I did. I found most of these facts at THE TEXAS TRIBUNE website.

The 25 highest paid state employees are all education related. The highest paid is Mack Brown, University of Texas (UT) head football coach, whose annual salary is $2,511,667.00 (ESPN’s website shows his salary to be over $5,000,000.00). Second place go’s to another UT coach, Richard D. Barnes at $2,916,667.00. Fourth place is Texas Tech coach, Thomas Tuberville, at $1,500,000.00. Thirteenth place is UT coach, Gail A. Goestenkors, at $930,834.00. Eighteenth place is UT coach, August E. Garndo, at $760,000.00 and at 25th place is Clarence Byme, Texas A&M athletic director at $711,434.00. The other eighteen individuals on the highest 25 paid state employees are all professors at various medical schools. Their salaries ranged from $700,000.00 to $$1,750,000.00.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has a total of 1054 employees doing something. The highest salary is $480,000.00, lowest is $21,015.00 and the average is $60,875.00. This produces a total salary only expense for the TEA of $64,162,250.00. Do they actually teach the student anything?

I found another state agency I was not aware of, the Texas Teacher Retirement System. This agency has 511 employees with the highest salary being $480,000.00; the lowest is $20,217.00 and the average of $56,116.00. This amounts to an annual salary only expense of $28,675,276.00.

The Tribune reports that there are 1154 school superintendents in Texas. Apparently some of the 1265 districts do not have any superintendents. Many of the school districts are charter schools. A review reveals that the Beaumont ISD superintendent, Carrol Thomas has the highest salary of $347,834.00. There are 78 that make more than $200,000.00; 511 earn between $100-200,000.00; 475 earn between $50-100,000.00 and 90 that make less than $50,000.00. Other than the outlandish salary in Beaumont, school superintendents are not overpaid. When you compare most to business leaders they are underpaid. The University of Texas alone has 190 positions that pay salaries over $200,000.00. The President, William Powers, salary is $511,491.00. The wide separation between the pay for a college professor and a K-12 school superintendent is another concern that Austin and the TEA have priority problems.

Wow, it would be nice to really know the true costs of education at the state level. If I had a staff to research this I would. It would be interesting to know if our Governor or Legislators had even a foggy idea of what a business would call overhead. At most only 25 of the above would ever come face to face with a student. Can you imagine what these costs would be if fringe benefits were available to review?

While I was accumulating these facts I decided to look at the entire State of Texas salary structure. The Tribune reports that the state currently has 660,000 employees. They report that we have 434,210 who have a salary up to $50,000.00; 203,795 with a salary from $50-100,000.00; 14,728 with a salary from $100-150,000.00; 2,783 with a salary from $150-200,000.00; 1,404 with a salary from 200-250,000.00; 786 with a salary from $250-300,000.00 and 2,294 with salaries from $300,000.000 to the $2,511,667.00.

By the way we pay Governor Perry $150,000.00 a year plus fringes. If every student in our universities had the brains to accumulate this knowledge, they would be idiots if they did not pursue a career in public service. You can’t blame this situation on the republicans now in power as the roots of these systems were created during democratic majority years. When you multiply this by all 50 states and throw in the education waste generated in Washington, it should tell the common folks that it is time to demand change.

What we all can do is blame the current republican leadership in Austin if they fail to understand and correct the problems that are so evident. Shifting the burden to the next generation to fix this is unacceptable to me. Are you satisfied? Please send me your comments and send your questions to your state Senator and/or Representative.

The sad part is the K-12 children are at the bottom of the priorities in Austin. That is probably because they can’t vote.
