OBAMA AND CONGRESSIONAL PRIORITIES???????????????????

QUESTION: Do you receive solicitation for charitable donations? Most Americans probably receive hundreds of mail and telephone request to help people who are in need. Since our current President assumed power the volume of these request has at least tripled for us. Having been born in 1930, I grew up during times when charities and churches were the only life line for more people than those who suffer today. Back then Americans took care of each other. Neighbors took care of neighbors.

Now neighbors don’t even know each other. One-half of all Americans now despise each other because that is the political objective of our President and Congress. The politicians can only survive by turning Americans against each other with every issue they can create or that happens by fate.

The bitterness of our current Democratic leaders like President Obama, Senator Reid, Congress member Pelosi to divide the people is sad and pitiful. The hate they espouse is unprecedented and the lack of decorum in Congress is not leadership. America is now a leaderless country. Every decision is political instead of sensible. This dissention of leadership has destroyed common sense in every aspect of our government, including the Supreme Court. The Republican leadership is so divided it has a hard time finding common positions to provide solutions for anything.

Let me walk you through some facts that should bother every American regarding our Governments priorities. I was honorably discharged after nearly five years in the US Navy when I was 22. The only veteran’s benefit I ever needed was a low interest GI loan for my first home. I was raised to take care of my family by working and I was blessed to be able to do this.

What prompted me to write this was inspired by opening one of the frequent request from “Wounded Warriors” who I have supported ever since Trace Adkins commercials first appeared on TV. This motivated me to do some research as it seems like we have far too many different organizations just to support the brave military veterans who put their life on the line to protect our freedoms. WOW, was I overwhelmed when I just examined two websites. Take a look at the following that I feel certain is not a complete list.

Charity and Aid Organizations that assist both active military personnel and veterans;Adopt a Platoon Soldier Support Effort, Admiral Nimitz Foundation, Air Warrior Courage Foundation, Air Force Aid Society, Alaska Veterans Outreach Boxes For Herpes, American Red Cross, American Gulf War Veterans Association, AMVETS National Service Foundation, Armed Forces Relief Trust, Armed Services YMCA of the USA, Army Emergency Fund, ASMBA STAR Foundation, Fisher House Foundation, Reconnect America, Aerospace Education Foundation, Air Force Enlisted Widows, Armed Forces Foundation, Astronauts Memorial Foundation, Billy Blanks Foundation, Blinded American Veterans Foundation, Blinded Veterans Association, Blue Star Moms, Cell Phones for Soldiers, Coalition to Salute American Hero’s, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, Comfort for America’s Uniformed Services Elite, Daughters of American Revolution, Disabled American Veterans, Enduring Freedom K.I.A. Fund, Fallen Patriot Fund, First Command Educational Foundation, Fisher House Foundation, Folds of Honor, The Freedom Alliance, Freedom Is Not Free, Global War on Terrorism Veterans in Need, Help Hospitalized Veterans, Homes for Our Troops, Hope For The Warriors, IMA Hero(TM) Collection, Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Iraq& Afghanistan Veterans of America, Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, Marines Helping Marines, Men of Easy Company Association, Mercy Medical Airlift, Military Chaplains Association of the USA, Military Community Youth Ministries, Mission Continues, National Defense University Foundation, National Military Family Organization, National Veterans Foundation, National Veterans Services Fund, Inc., Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, Navy Seal Fund, New England Center for Homeless Veterans, Officers’ Christian Fellowship , Operation First Response, Operation Gratitude, Operation Homefront, Operation Interdependence, Operation Support Our Troops, Operation Love Reunited, Our Forgotten Warriors, Our Military Kids, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Pat Tillman Foundation, Phoenix House, Inc., Points of Light – Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary, Project Keeping Cadence Purple Heart Cars.org, Raising Consciousness America, Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Service Systems, See Your Troops Foundation, Skip Cares – Military Care Packages, Soldiers Angles, Snowball Express, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Spirit of America, Support the Enlisted Project (STEP), Survivors of Servicemen (SOS) Fund, The Hugs Project, The Shade Tree, TIRR Foundation, Toys for Tots Foundation, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), USA Cares, USO, United Through Reading , Veterans Families United, Veterans Helping Veterans & Others, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Veterans Support Organization, Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund, The Walter Reed Society, Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, Women’s Resource Center of Manatee, Wounded Warriors Fund and the Wounded Warrior Project.

I read all of the stories of how our veterans are served by our government. The backlog of request for help from the Veterans Admiration is unacceptable. Congress talks about this and does nothing to help these people. I now understand why we have all of these charities, funds and foundations to help the “Hero’s”.

WHY?

Because Congress and our President could care less that these brave Americans volunteered to serve to protect us and they should be given every priority possible. They are not an important voting bloc to help them get re-elected.

A crack-head welfare recipient can destroy themselves physically and be approved for Social Security Disability faster than a critically wounded soldier can wade through the VA red tape for a disability rating.

WHY?

Because we keep voting for the Progressive Liberals that divide Americans and turn us against each other on purpose. It is time to clean out Washington and agree to elect a leader to “UNITE” us again. How do you feel? C Brewer

OBAMAS WAR!

The media only skimmed over the recent military slaughter and equipment destruction in Afghanistan. Maybe enough bloggers will try to see this report to make all Americans sick to their stomach. C Brewer

Written by Jack Kelly

The war in Afghanistan effectively ended last week.  We lost.

The last of the surge troops President Barack Obama sent to Afghanistan were quietly withdrawn.  They did not leave in triumph:

*Taliban guerrillas dressed in U.S. Army uniforms attacked Camp Bastion in southern Afghanistan, Sept. 14, destroying 8 Marine Harrier jump jets.  It was our greatest loss of aircraft since the Vietnam war.  For VMA-211, it was the greatest loss since the siege of Wake Island in World War II.  The Harrier has been out of production for a decade, so the losses can’t be replaced.

More Harriers likely would have been lost had not the squadron commander, LtCol Christopher Raible, armed with only a pistol, battled the heavily armed guerrillas.  He and another Marine were killed during the raid, which was so sophisticated some defense analysts think it was plotted by Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence Agency.

“The Taliban’s major vulnerability is our mastery of the air, but if they can negate it, we are approaching tactical equality because they have home turf advantage,” said former Special Forces soldier Michael Yon, who’s spent more time in Afghanistan than any other war correspondent.

*The attack on Camp Bastion happened on a Friday.  Two British and four American soldiers were killed by Afghan policemen the following Saturday and Sunday.  After these attacks, NATO suspended most joint operations with Afghan security forces.

“We’re to the point now where we can’t trust these people,” a senior military official told NBC’s Pentagon correspondent.  So far this year, 59 NATO troops have been killed in “green on blue” attacks.

As of Monday (9/24), 1,493 Americans have been killed in Afghanistan, 70 percent of them since Barack Obama became president.  About 15 percent of NATO troops killed this year have been killed by our purported Afghan allies.  “Green on blue” attacks were virtually unheard of four years ago.

“The training mission is the foundation of the current strategy,” said Joshua Foust, a journalist who reports on Central Asia. “Without that mission, the strategy collapses. The war is adrift, and it’s hard to see how anyone can avoid a complete disaster at this point.”

Spencer Ackerman, who writes about national security for Wired magazine, said failure in Afghanistan has “implications for the other wars the U.S. is fighting.”

“Imagine yourself as a Yemeni insurgent,” he said.  The lesson you might draw from Afghanistan is that instead of fighting the government and its American advisors, “a smarter strategy is to join them – to go through training, in preparation for the moment when, perhaps, you can get close enough to the Americans to open fire or detonate a bomb.”

Defeat comes as no surprise to me.  Thanks to Afghanistan’s primitiveness; Pakistan’s enmity (the Taliban is largely a creation of the ISI), and the corruption, incompetence and duplicity of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, our “nation-building” effort there was doomed, I’ve written for years.

Or to Army LtCol. Daniel Davis, who traveled more than 9,000 miles in Afghanistan in 2011.  “In all of the places I visited, the tactical situation was bad to abysmal,” he said.

But defeat may come as a shock to those who believed President Obama when he said Sept. 1:  “We’ve broken the Taliban’s momentum in Afghanistan, and begun the transition to an Afghan lead.”

Despite its import, the bleak war news attracted little attention from the news media.  In the wake of the 9/11/2012 attacks in Libya and Egypt, this is perhaps understandable.  But there has been little coverage of the Afghan war all year.

If George W. Bush were president, “there would be continuous coverage of the disarray in Afghanistan: the soldiers we’re training are shooting us, the corruption is intensifying, and the opium trade spreading,” said Prof. Walter Russell Mead, who teaches foreign policy at Bard College.

“These stories wouldn’t be on the back pages,” he said.  “They’d be perceived as major news with profound implications for America’s global position and the Sunday shows and nightly TV news round ups would be full of talking heads endlessly analyzing each wrinkle of the failure.”

Defeat in Afghanistan is a big deal — especially since we still have 68,000 troops in harm’s way.  It should have been reported — even though it is embarrassing to President Obama.

OBAMA SCARE – WHERE WILL IT STOP?

Here is just one more reason to stop this destruction in November. Why do the media and the Republicans just ignore specific issues that this administration piles up? With the world in turmoil with economic ruin and terrorism gone wild, why destroy our military superiority? We are now a nation of freeloaders with the eruption of government actions to keep the poor people poor and buy their votes. Do you want your children to have a career or just put up tents and protest for a living? The following letter should make every veteran alive become active to defeat Obama. I can’t imagine any real American being comfortable with our continuing loss of freedoms to satisfy greedy politicians. I have paraphrased the following statement of this true American’s letter to better introduce it profoundly.

You may be totally happy with Obamacare; Obama’s religious views; His commitment to socialist and anti-American causes; His birth certificate and his eligibility issues.  Read the this message and I challenge you to send me your reasons to re-elect this Socialists zealot. C Brewer

LETTER

Bill Gertz has discovered the one issue that will take Obama down, if YOU and the Republicans make it an issue. This is the Obama’s administration’s proposed budget CUTS for active-duty military personnel and military retirees, but not civilian defense workers!

Do you get the picture?

Obama has tipped his hand. He’s showing the entire country what he thinks about our military service people, the people who risk their lives for their country are worth less than civilian defense workers who push papers around in Washington!

Chances are you don’t know much about this story. There’s a good reason for that. The Big Media doesn’t want you to know because they recognize the political radioactivity it represents!

This is the Death Star for Obama’s re-election campaign. If Americans know about this, Republicans, Democrats and Independents will all oppose him.

Here are the details of the story broken by the intrepid Bill Gertz:

a.. “The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their health care, while leaving unionized civilian defense worker’ benefits untouched!”

b.. “Several congressional aides suggested the move is designed to force increased enrollment in Obamacare’s state-run insurance exchanges!”

c.. “The disparity in treatment between civilians and uniformed personnel is causing a backlash within the military that could undermine recruitment and retention!”

d.. “Significantly, the plan calls for increases between 30 percent to 79 percent in Tricare annual premiums for the first year! After that, the plan will impose five-year increases ranging from 94 percent to 345 percent! More than three times current levels!”

Think about this – imagine how you would campaign against Obama on just this one issue.

U.S. military service people don’t get the equipment they need to do their jobs. They don’t have the manpower they need to complete their missions. Their families scrimp and sacrifice financially so they can serve their country. They risk their lives and give their lives for their country.

But, according to Obama, unionized civilian defense workers, sitting behind their comfortable desks in Washington, deserve better treatment than our heroes serving overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere!

It’s almost unbelievable that Obama could serve up a slow-pitch softball like this for Republicans to knock out of the park!

It’s even more unbelievable that none of them has……yet!

Which is why I write this column.

Obama MUST pay for this! Whether or not he backs off, whether or not Congress throws his budget out the window, whether or not these cuts are ever enacted, Obama MUST pay a big political price for showing his cards! Republicans, and ALL MILITARY VETERANS, MUST remind Americans every day that Obama is the guy who wants to cut medical care for Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen…..all while preserving the goodies for Washington bureaucrats!

Men and women who put their lives on the line and risked their health and well-being are treated like second-class citizens in Obama-World!

Obama has signaled his absolute contempt for the U.S. military – not just the institution of the military, but the active-duty grunts on the front lines, as well! This is an easy one for the American people to understand.

Where is the main-stream media?

Where is Congress?

Where are the talk-show hosts?

Where is the blogosphere chatter?

Obama has stepped in something very smelly here! Why aren’t more Obama critics making hay of it?

Can YOU understand this?

Obama and the Muslim brotherhood want The United States to lose its position of military strength and its bargaining power! If we weaken, or lose, our military, we would lose our credibility in the world political arena.

SIX BOYS AND 13 HANDS

True stories like this one made the news but never did or nerer will be made part of our history books. Like other sacrifices future generations will only remember the hippies and occupiers who are already in history books, sad but true.  CB

Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth grade class from Clinton, WI. where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy visiting our nation’s capitol, and each year I take some special memories back with me. This falls trip was especially memorable.

On the last night of our trip, we stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial. This memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the most famous photographs in history — that of the six brave soldiers raising the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan, during WW II.

Over one hundred students and chaperones piled off the buses and headed towards the memorial. I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue, and as I got closer he asked, ‘Where are you guys from?’

I told him that we were from Wisconsin. ‘Hey, I’m a cheese head, too! Come gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story.’

(It was James Bradley who just happened to be in Washington, DC, to speak at the memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his dad, who had passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the buses pull up. I videotaped him as he spoke to us, and received his permission to share what he said from my videotape. It is one thing to tour the incredible monuments filled with history in Washington, DC, but it is quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.)

When all had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that night.)

‘My name is James Bradley and I’m from Antigo, Wisconsin. My dad is on that statue, and I wrote a book called ‘Flags of Our Fathers’. It is the story of the six boys you see behind me.

‘Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team. They were off to play another type of game. A game called ‘War.’ But it didn’t turn out to be a game. Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don’t say that to gross you out, I say that because there are people who stand in front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old – and it was so hard that the ones who did make it home never even would talk to their families about it.

(He pointed to the statue) ‘You see this next guy? That’s Rene Gagnon from New Hampshire. If you took Rene’s helmet off at the moment this photo was taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a photograph…a photograph of his girlfriend. Rene put that in there for protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. It was just boys who won the battle of Iwo Jima . Boys. Not old men.

‘The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank. Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the ‘old man’ because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his boys in training camp, he didn’t say, ‘Let’s go kill some Japanese’ or ‘Let’s die for our country’. He knew he was talking to little boys. Instead he would say, ‘You do what I say, and I’ll get you home to your mothers.’

‘The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from Arizona . Ira Hayes was one of them who lived to walk off Iwo Jima. He went into the White House with my dad. President Truman told him, ‘You’re a hero’. He told reporters, ‘How can I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27 of us walked off alive?’

So you take your class at school, 250 of you spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250 of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes carried the pain home with him and eventually died dead drunk, face down, drowned in a very shallow puddle, at the age of 32 (ten years after this picture was taken).

‘The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop, Kentucky. A fun-lovin’ hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told me, ‘Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn’t get down. Then we fed them Epsom salts. Those cows crapped all night.’ Yes, he was a fun-lovin’ hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19. When the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother’s farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning. Those neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away.

‘The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John Bradley, from Antigo, Wisconsin, where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994, but he would never give interviews. When Walter Cronkite’s producers or the New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say ‘No, I’m sorry, sir, my dad’s not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no phone there, sir. No, we don’t know when he is coming back.’ My dad never fished or even went to Canada. Usually, he was sitting there right at the table eating his Campbell’s soup. But we had to tell the press that he was out fishing. He didn’t want to talk to the press.

‘You see, like Ira Hayes, my dad didn’t see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys are heroes, ’cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a combat caregiver. On Iwo Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died on Iwo Jima, they writhed and screamed, without any medication or help with the pain.

‘When I was a little boy, my third grade teacher told me that my dad was a hero. When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, ‘I want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did not come back. Did NOT come back.’

‘So that’s the story about six nice young boys.. Three died on Iwo Jima , and three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out, so I will end here. Thank you for your time.’

Suddenly, the monument wasn’t just a big old piece of metal with a flag sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero. Maybe not a hero for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless.

We need to remember that God created this vast and glorious world for us to live in, freely, but also at great sacrifice.

Let us never forget from the Revolutionary War to the current War on Terrorism and all the wars in-between that sacrifice was made for our freedom…please pray for our troops.

Remember to pray praises for this great country of ours and also …please pray for our troops still in murderous places around the world.

STOP and thank God for being alive and being free due to someone else’s sacrifice.

God Bless You and God Bless America .

REMINDER: Everyday that you can wake up free, makes it a great day.

One thing I learned while on tour with my 8th grade students in DC that is not mentioned here is . . that if you look at the statue very closely and count the number of ‘hands’ raising the flag, there are 13. When the man who made the statue was asked why there were 13, he simply said the 13th hand was the hand of God.

Great story – worth your time – worth every American’s time. Please pass it on.

Thanks Jim

AMERICAS FINEST

I hadn’t heard this story before but that isn’t surprising that the media wouldn’t go out of their way to give these Marines their due.

It just makes me so damned proud.

A chaplain, who happened to be assigned to the Pentagon, told of an  incident  that happened right after Flight 77 hit the Pentagon on 9/11.

A daycare facility inside the Pentagon had many children, including infants who were in heavy cribs. The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do. There were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants that would need to be taken out with the cribs.

There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers. Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, “Well, here we are, on our own.”

About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 other Marines in tow. Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers. The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac and the Pentagon. Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing- they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the Old West. Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to keep them from wandering off.

Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children. The chaplain then said, “I don’t think any of us saw nor heard of this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted; could we expect any less from them? It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon.

Remember Ronald Reagan’s great compliment: “Most of us wonder if our lives made any difference. Marines don’t have that problem.” God Bless the USA , our troops, and you. It’s the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It’s the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the military, please pass this on and pray for our men and women, who have served and are currently serving our country, and pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

Thanks Ron
