OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA – COPIES TO 534 IN CONGRESS!

I feel sure we have at least one person in Congress who would agree?

What on earth happened to “common sense” in America? Will our elected officials ever stop their political wars long enough to see what they have already destroyed. The United States has only one major problem which is wasted resources. We have changed the entire work ethic just in my lifetime. Every one of our elected officials knows that jobs have saved this country every time we have a crisis.

I listen to our President repeatedly read on his teleprompter that the infrastructure in America is crumbling. I seriously doubt he has personally observed mush but it is a serious problem. I doubt that anyone in Congress disagree. Why don’t we fix it? The President and the Democrats want to borrow on our children’s future to modernize our crumbling parks, roads, bridges, slums and civic services. The Republicans with closed minds and fights with each other just say no and ignore the wasted resources we have doing nothing. Wake up Washington we have all of the resources we just don’t use them.

When I was a boy we had no large park system or decent roads in most of America. Our government back then had enough “common sense” to create jobs to improve America by using able bodied citizens to do the work. We had no food stamps, Medicaid, SSI, and the other hundreds of freebies like Obama phones to pay for. Let me share some statistics that blew me away when I just decided to open my eyes and study them.

The latest U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), revealed that we had 2,266,800 adults incarcerated in U.S. federal and state prisons, and county jails at year-end 2011. It is not rocket science to be certain we have more today. They show that we also had 4,814,200 adults on probation or on parole. Wow, Over 7,000,000 adults that owe something to society and except for the ones who work free for Sheriff Joe, over 2,000,000 sitting in jails doing nothing for improving anything. What a waste of free labor because of the ACLU and our Political Supreme Court.

Additional statistics I stumbled across searching for facts were equally interesting.

  1. We have 10,200,000 adults drawing unemployment.
  1. We have 82,679,000 people on Medicaid.
  1. A total of 109,631,000 people are on welfare.
  1. Unbelievably we have 51,471,000 people on food stamps.
  1. We have 22,358,000 receiving women and children Social Security benefits.
  1. There are 20,358,000 people drawing SSI payments.
  1. Last Thursday’s Labor Department report showed we had 430,000 people of working age (16 or older) that just dropped out of the workforce.

I could spend a lot of my time and waste yours by calculating statistical scenarios that are unnecessary to make my point. We have way more than enough people already getting paid for doing nothing and setting in jails and prisons to rebuild everything and not cost one red cent.

Our local roads could use a lot of help here in the woods of East Texas. I would like to bring up one more question that I could not find statistics to report. I wonder how many of the millions of people in the statistics I did gather above are illegal aliens? It’s for sure that Obama or Congress will never let us know. Does anyone out there care? I do!

Apparently asking those in prison, drawing unemployment or receiving welfare to actually do some work to improve the infrastructure is out of the question. This would be unfair and “common sense”. So we welcome illegals to come in to work and instead of working they just get on the same freebie wagon and enjoy the ride. The welfare train is headed for a derailment and these hobo’s better get ready for the wreck. We don’t have any vacancies in our prisons and Mexico likely will not let any of them live there. Sic’um Donald Trump we need to close the borders.

WAKE UP AMERICA!

Looking back over my nearly 85 years gives me more American history to remember than most. Political history is distorted, hidden, misrepresented and protected by both individuals and the government. Our government uses security reasons to hide facts that have no justification other than to protect both individuals and agency failures. Watching the facts currently being made public against Dennis Hastert are a perfect example to support my thesis. To further protect someone from being exposed the Justice Department is now trying to hide reasons to likely protect some other political or governmental agency from being exposed.

When you add the bias, distortion and sensationalism that the printed and visual media publishes to hide the truth Americans today are just brainwashed with propaganda. Watching this happen is what motivated me to devote what life I have left writing and sharing what I have observed. I do use the printed media articles and material shared with me by friends to publish some articles.

Many people use and suggest that I use Snopes to check authenticity. Most of my critics are not seeking the truth they just want to find something wrong with anything that offends them. Snopes has no way to see if a fact is hidden, distorted or falsified by the government. If they think something is an urban legend, folklore, myths, rumors or mis-information, they can say anything they desire without oversight. Snipes is the most Progressive-Liberal organization in American history. If you disagree check where they get their financing. There is no agency or publication in America that has access to government secrets. I trust my friends, other blogs and my own memory of facts far more than any politically funded and slanted source.

Now let me use my memory and some actual facts to predict the Presidential election in 2016. I have been wrong at times and I hope my prognosis is wrong this time. America needs to stop the race to socialize our Republic. When you have a proven communist, Hillary Clinton, along with an admitted Socialist, Bernie Sanders as the front runners to be the Democratic Party candidate for President their mission is quite clear to anyone. The national media will continue to hide, distort, and blindly support the Democratic candidate as always.

Sadly women will strongly support any female chosen as they feel it’s time for a woman President no matter what will happen. I have no opposition to a female President and I feel like the bumper sticker on my car. It has a picture of Hillary Clinton with the following verbiage, “Life is a Bitch, Don’t Elect One”. I you want some I can tell you where to buy them.

Our over 40,000,000 welfare army which includes illegals, dead, and fictitious voters will never vote for someone who insist they work for their handouts. I lived in the CCC and WPA years that actually did help build and repair infrastructure projects. Our current President insist he needs billions of tax dollars to just repair the infrastructure when all he has to do is make the able people on welfare and fake disability get off their butt and go to work.

If we could create jobs instead of gerrymander the unemployment statistics to hide facts we might not have as many in prisons. In fact, if we just made the army of those in prisons actually work on civic improvements nothing but good would happen. If Joe Arpaio was President Inmates would not enjoy prison life. Today, life in most prisons is an improvement for some who are mistreated, ignored or abused. When I was young we were encouraged to avoid breaking the law as prisons were not country clubs like some are today. Fact, the Texas prison system is the largest school district in the state. Why don’t we educate kids before they break the law. You can get a PhD in the Texas prison system, free.

If she keeps her mouth closed, avoids any debate involving her government service, another woman fails to challenger her or the Republicans don’t nominate a woman, Hillary Clinton will be our next President. Now let me describe the reasons for my prognosis.

The Republican Party will not nominate a woman or a true conservative candidate. They have a well-qualified female in Carly Fiorina, they have a 100% true conservative in Ted Cruz and they have a 100% Libertarian in Rand Paul. In-between they have so many Republican-in-Name-Only (RINOS) that will distort the scene and they, assisted by the media, will defeat themselves. We also have a conservative African American in Dr. Ben Carson who impresses me. It also appears that one proven leader, Donald Trump hopefully will announce his candidacy fast. In my opinion the only two who have the will to downsize and the leadership competency to change the runaway government is Cruz or Trump. If the Republicans nominate either one it will be earth shaking evidence they truly desire to win. Will this happen, “NO”?

The biased media, including Fox News, has announced debate rules for the Republican candidates using distortion, manipulation and creative ways to control your mind. They will use polling data to limit who you will hear and the poll data is as phony as a three dollar bill with Bill Clinton’s picture. Questions in any poll can control information with greater distorted accuracy than the testimony we have watched from the IRS and Hillary before Congress. President Obama, IRS, EPA and the Justice Department have taken more liberty with the truth than anyone in America’s history. Poor old Nixon erased a few minutes of an unlawful action but Hillary and the Obama administration has taken lying and destroying government documents to a totally new level.

We will have to suffer through a barrage of debates and the Republicans will nominate a wishy-washy RINO to represent the Party again. Even then the Republicans could win over Hillary Clinton if enough American independent voters like myself really desire to stop the attack on destroying our individual freedoms. Will this happen, “NO”? Save a copy of this article to review on November 4th 2016 after the elections.

Rand Paul knows that he will never win the nomination and he is building up the same following that supported his father Ron Paul. When he loses the Republican nomination he will announce that he will run as the Libertarian party candidate just like his father has done three times. His dividing the Republican vote like Ross Perot did in the 1992 election will assure that another Clinton will be President. Perot is the reason Bill Clinton won the Presidency and Rand Paul will be the reason Hillary Clinton will be our next President. November 4th 2016 will be the saddest day of my life if I am still here.

My kids and grandkids will not enjoy the freedoms I enjoyed. The freedom to express opinions like I have done will disappear along with all personal weapons. Ladies, I hope you will be permitted to wear designer Burkas. Female voters are being led to the slaughter like the rats that followed the Pied Piper into the sea.

LAWS – WHY SHOULD ANYONE ABIDE?

Watching the news has become nothing more than elections, catastrophic events, sensationalism and biased messages. Our nation has been purposely divided by incapable career politicians and a news media that are so corrupt it’s sickening.

Yesterday I read an article about Representative Maxine Waters from California. The US House of Representatives has been investigating her for over three years and will likely never finish. If half of the charges are true and it appears that all are violations of the law, you or I would already be in prison. Even if convicted she will receive no punishment beyond a slap on the wrist.

Regardless of a verdict there is no doubt she will be re-elected in November just like Charles Rangel has been forever. I only singled out these two as they have been repeat offenders for many years. I am sure that 90% of every Congressperson, Executive branch appointee and the Legal Branch of our Government would be in prison if they had to comply with the laws.

Our President in on TV constantly and can lie with a smile better than Slick Willie. It is amusing that the government has been trying to send Roger Clements to prison for lying to Congress. I suppose that if lying to Congress was applicable to members of Congress and Obama/Biden and company, we would not have enough prisons to house them. On second thought it would corrupt the prison system too. After all the Democrats always depend on prisoners to help get elected.

We are supposed to be a nation of laws that even our President ignores on a daily basis. I now understand why he by-passed serving as Governor of the State of Illinois. At least in that state the Governors serve one term in office, followed by a term in prison. Subjecting Americans to watch Eric Holder, our Attorney General, ignore on the Constitution for his behalf should earn them both a trip to prison.

Mr. Holder is now suing the State of Florida to reinstate voters that are illegal aliens that have voted already as they are being denied their rights. What rights does not even matter. He is suing every state that has instituted the requirement to force voters to have picture ID’s when they vote. Why, because the illegal’s, criminals, forgers and the dead all vote for the Democrats. Everyone knows this happens but sadly too many really don’t care anymore.

We wonder why lawlessness in America has filled our prisons to the point that most people who violate the law never spend a day in our overcrowded prisons or jails. Our leaders do not have to abide by the law, why should anyone else have to. Understanding lying politicians is not rocket science and that is why they increase the amount of morons, aliens, prisoners and career welfare recipients to get re-elected. They don’t have to worry about the dead so far.

Dividing America should be a crime but when no one cares, even decent politicians (I feel certain there is at least one) don’t care, why should anyone care. Well I do care and I hope enough other Americans care to start the process of cleaning up Washington this coming November.

My friend, Glenn Provost, is crusading for mandatory term limits for every political office. This is the only solution to stop politics from being a career. The tenure/seniority system that we have allowed to ruin this great country must be abolished. Laws can protect us even from each other if they are enforced. When we let federal officials continue to destroy our rights and state’s rights, we deserve what we have created.

Voting is the one right that has made this country the envy of the world. Recent action to allow illegal’s the right to vote just diluted our vote. Obama granted amnesty to some 800,000 illegal aliens last week and will permit them to vote for him. They have already filled 800,000 jobs that Americans need badly. Sadly because they have received unemployment for so long, they will vote for him too and live off of the people who do work for a living.

“GOD SAVE AMERICA”, most Americans have given up!

EDUCATION TEXAS-SHOULD TESTING BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN TEACHING?

The good news for teachers is that the ill-fated Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) testing will be given a well deserved funeral in 2011. This was an unfunded mandate that never deserved a breath and actually replaced valuable teacher time. Teachers were forced to teach for the test rather than teach to have students gain knowledge.

The bad news is our illustrious Legislature mandated 12 end-of–course assessments for high school students in Senate Bill 1031 in 2007 and created new graduation requirements for an additional year of math and science plus grade 3-8 assessments in House Bill 3 in 2009. This resulted in a new State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness or STAAR test to replace TAKS. Wow!

So STAAR grades 3-8 test will include:

Grade 3 Reading and Math

Grade 4 Reading, Math and Writing

Grade 5 Reading, Math and Science

Grade 6 Reading and Math

Grade 7 Reading, Math and Writing

Grade 8 Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies.

STAAR High School tests will include:

English I, English II, English III, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, World Geography, World History, and United States History.

In plain language the new tests will be used beginning in the 2011-2012 school year. Students entering ninth grade next year will be the first who must meet the extra course in math and science and be subjected to the end-of-course testing requirements. By the way they must also pass their classes, in order to earn a diploma.

Another tidbit you have to search for is what does all of this STAAR surprise cost? A concerned citizen, using the open record law found the answer. The STAAR testing program has been awarded to a for-profit company in the amount of $468,382,617.00 that will cover the period from 2010-2015.

By the way, there has been no additional training developed for the K-12 administrators or teachers and they face not having textbooks or any preparatory classes to prepare students for the additional science/math requirements. Like the TAKS program teachers will be forced to teach to the STAAR requirements. Any failure of students to pass the tests will be blamed on the teachers like happened when TAKS produced negative results.

If our Superintendents and teachers were allowed to demand discipline there would be no need for a testing program. It is criminal that teachers must have liability insurance to protect their personal property. No wonder we have a broken system. It should be no surprise that our Texas education system in our prisons is highly successful, why? There is no discipline problem with prisoners. Why can’t educators accept that until teachers and administrators are allowed to demand discipline, wasting money with testing is irresponsible! They do not care.

Texas current academic performance measured with all states has diminished over the past few years and we are planning to slash the state funding as much as 20%. It appears that someone in Austin is back to smoking weeds. Only dreamers like the State Board of Education and the legislature can develop these pie-in-the-sky grandiose programs. They believe that they can cut spending and snap their fingers and all Texas students will be ready for the universities and we will have thousands of Academics and Rocket Scientists, available to find unemployment?

When will someone in America wake up and admit that every child will not attend a college or university. We spend billions year after year preparing all children to go to a place of higher learning, knowing full well most will never go.

America is the only industrialized nation on the planet that has little or no trades education for those who will eventually be policemen, firefighters, plumbers, carpenters, cosmetologists, small business owners, etc. Maybe if we could have courses to prepare some students for a political future, we could reduce the costs of our Congress and Legislatures. Most politicians are lawyers and they could be free to return to doing the legal work they were educated to perform. The way they have screwed up America, I suspect some would have to be re-educated on how to chase ambulances again!

For those who read my article on education in the Texas prisons, providing free trades education in high school might help the ones who are lost or drop out of school. Knowledge that would help them find jobs might keep some from joining gangs, selling drugs or other criminal activity. They would fit into society at graduation. Now, if they desire to learn a trade after high school, it is not free and the ones who can’t afford higher education certainly can’t afford the trade school fees.

The only way to get a free education today without grants is to go to prison. It would be nice if the U.S. Department of Education could provide PELL grants for a trade’s education initiative. They spend billions annually to send the under-privileged and the ill-prepared to a college or university with little or no hope that the majority will graduate. They try to make the shoe fit even if it is impossible and accomplish a ten percent result. If we would evaluate every child after the eighth grade and have two courses of opportunity, trades versus academics, we would have the right shoe on the right foot.

What I have outlined is nothing more than common sense. Sadly the academics and politicians that design and fund education were never subjected to a course in common sense and most have never had to make a payroll every week. The really sad part is they really do not care about our children as they just want power and prestige.

For those who wish to keep up with education in Texas, you will find a lot of information on the Texas Education Agency website. I enjoy reading material at TexasISD.com which is the Homepage for Texas School Officials.

EDUCATION IN TEXAS-ARE PRISONS THE PLACE TO PREPARE PEOPLE FOR THE FUTURE?

When “Perry’s Posse” announced a $9,000,000,000.00 cut in education funding for the next two years, they woke me up. The more I discover and read, the more problems both designed and ignored, rear their ugly heads. When they announced the possible elimination of $128 million in education funding for the prison system in mid-March, some people went ballistic.

Just discovering we had a prison educational program was news to me. After spending several hours reading some 600 pages of reports, charts, results and opinions, I will try to summarize my thoughts. Before I do, let me clearly state that I am not an enemy of educating anyone. I began my education experience at age 6, graduated high school at age 16, and finally completed my formal education with a Masters Degree at age 46, all in Texas. I have been a life member of the PTA for over 44 years and I love children.

Prison education is managed by the Windom School District. They have some 1300 employees at 90 prisons. They have existed for 41 years and the largest of Texas 1265 school districts. They currently have some 77,000 students. The district has 67 principals and librarians are paid $54,000 annually. Figures are from a March 17th article in the Austin American Statesman. I omitted their biased commentary.

Should you desire to pursue the following facts and figures, you can read the entire 2008-2009 Annual performance report and the 2010-2014 Strategic Plans on the Windom website.

Goals of the district include; (1) reduce recidivism; (2) reduce the costs of confinement or imprisonment; (3) increase the success of former inmates to behave in positive ways during confinement; and (4) provide an incentive to inmates to behave in positive ways during confinement or imprisonment.

I have previously written that the word “behave” is totally different today than when I was in K-12. If the 150,000 inmates in the Texas prisons were made to behave when in K-12 they possibly would not be in prison today?

The district provides 28 full-length Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. I will summarize it with Automotive, Building Trades, Business, Computers, Culinary, Custodial, Heating/AC, Horticulture, Personal and Family Development, Truck Driving, Welding. They also offer advanced College Credit Vocational courses in 25 subjects, most in the same categories as the CTE programs.

Degrees and certificates awarded during the 2008-2009 academic year included the following

Associate Degrees…………………………………………………….382

Bachelor’s Degrees………………………………………………………36

Master’s Degrees…………………………………………………………11

2-year College Vocational Credit (CVC) Certificates.…. 1,717

2-year CVC Non-Credit Certificates………………………………198

2-year College Workforce Non-Credit………………………….1,310

In FY-2009 the Windom School District had revenues of $78,423,339.00 and expenditures of $76,136,551.00. The state provided $59,425,788 in revenue. The remaining revenue came from interest $91,294, Federal pass through $1,847,535, continuing education $2,694,308, Federal grant $2,020,618, contract $4,253,803, Project Rio $3,647,569, other $34,888, operating transfer-in $129,989, and carry forward $4,277,547. If you have questions, ask your State Senator or State Representative what these spooky descriptions mean. I was intrigued with “carry forward”. I asked them several questions two weeks ago and I did get a reply from my State Representative, Wayne Christian, on March 23. I have received no response from Robert Nichols my State Senator. I will share some interesting feedback from some educators on Mr. Christian’s response next week. Some of his figures are misleading and incorrect.

Our entire American education system is misdirected and one of the primary reasons we have so many people in our prisons. Most other industrialized nations have understood that education that prepares all students as equals in the language, arts, math, science, history and humanities is a disaster. They evaluate all students after the 8th grade and prepare the ones who struggle with options. Similar to the Texas prison program, they offer training in the trades during high school free. In America we force the disadvantaged, both academically and financially, to pay at a trade school or get it free in prison.

I am working on an article that will reveal the state financial inequity at the local level. I watch our Sabine County high school graduates forced to leave this rural area and their families as there are limited opportunities for any career.

EDUCATION DECLINES-COSTS GO UP, WHY?

There are major reasons why education today is tragically different from in the 1930’s and 1940’s when I was educated. One reason we have had a major decline in education in America is the parents. Mothers did not work and were there daily to teach you respect for others and monitor your every activity including discipline. Dads were available to teach you about work and prepare you for life. If you challenged your mother, dad would make sure you understood that mom was always right. I learned as much from my parents as I did in school. If I had problems in school or homework, they were always there to help me.

Teachers actually taught classes without any disruption as discipline was expected and enforced. Rule #1, with any disruption you would get embarrassed verbally by the teacher. Rule #2, if you disrupted the class the second time you were likely disciplined physically by the teacher. Rule #3, next you were escorted to the principal’s office for a guaranteed physical event to get your undivided attention. Rule #3 also included notifying your parents which would probably result in some form of a Rule #4, physical punishment. As I have never been one to enjoy pain of any description, I never faced Rules 2, 3, or 4.

Bad or poor grades were another event that would result in discipline. Being berated verbally and embarrassed in class by the teacher was common practice. Showing a bad report card to my mother resulted in the loss of something important was guaranteed.

I challenge anyone to produce any facts that parents and discipline are not the primary reasons we have lost our position of leadership in education to second and third world rated countries today.

Why has this happened?  People now want more materialistic things before they can truly afford them. Case in point, I never owned a car until I was 23 years old, had served over four years in the U.S. Navy, and was married with two children. It took that long to amass enough assets to use as collateral to borrow the $100 to purchase a 1940 car in 1953. Today it is considered punishment if you do not get a car when you turn 16. The result today is both parents have to work to provide the funds to keep up with their peers. Larger homes, fancier cars, club memberships and designer apparel are necessities rather than dreams. This success caused resentment from those without the desire to work that hard.

Another reason is society has digressed and accepted new moral standards. One parent families only existed when I was growing up as a result of a tragedy.  Today one parent families is as commonplace as the sun rising. The number of one parent families has skyrocketed out of sight. Children do not have the preparation or support necessary to understand the need for education, work and discipline. The same resentment from these children for lack of materialistic parity has created the increase in criminal activity and instead of getting educated they occupy the prisons.

The last reason is that teachers and administrators are no longer allowed to discipline a student. If they embarrass or berate a student today it will usually result in facing a raging parent. Even if they agree with the action, they are mad because they have to interrupt their work to get involved. If physical punishment was involved you can expect the parent, their attorney and litigation. Whether you know it or not, teachers today have to buy liability insurance to protect their family assets. Today parents fear litigation for any form of physical punishment of their own children. It would not surprise me to see parents having to buy liability insurance to protect them from their own children. Obamacare has recently mandated that your children are you’re your responsibility until they are 26. This illustration is just to remind you that we did not have as many lawyers when I was young. We had no television so there were no commercials every 15 minutes from lawyers begging you to sue anybody for anything possible.

If you doubt my wisdom, please take the time to go spend just one day with a teacher in a classroom that does not include your child. If every elected politician and judge at every level of government from Obama to your local level would observe, by video, a full day of a classroom, common sense change would happen.

Again I would appreciate “factual” data that refutes my claims from anyone, including a government agency and especially the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). If the DOE would just spend 10% of the billions addressing discipline and correcting the problem, it would help the teachers and administrators immensely.
