VETERANS 1, LIBERALS RUNNING WILD 0.

I volunteered at 17 over 69 years ago to join the US Navy and served nearly five years. I have never had to ask our government for any healthcare and I am now 86 years old. I did get GI home loan that was fully paid back and the State of Texas gave me a veterans loan to buy some acreage that was also fully paid back. I never asked for or received any Veterans Administration (VA) healthcare nor do I intend to.

My 40 years in the work place allowed me to earn Social Security and at 65 I received Medicare healthcare benefits. I have found that many young people believe that Medicare is free. Medicare for my wife and I along with the premiums for the Medicare supplements including Part D drugs exceed $700.00 each month. I have included this information for you to understand why I am fortunate to avoid having to use VA.

Veterans that live in rural areas are provided healthcare and drugs if their income is less than the poverty level. I will use a good friend as my example to share what he faces to get healthcare. We are the same age. If he needs to see a doctor he has to travel 60 miles to Lufkin Texas when he can get an appointment that can take two weeks. If he can be treated and medicated in Lufkin he just has to drive back 60 miles to get home. Should his condition require special testing or a specialists he must board a free bus to travel to Houston some 150 miles.

Now when illegal aliens, citizens without funds need to see a doctor they can go to the emergency room at the Sabine County Hospital and get a aspirin for a headache free. They do not have to get an appointment and they cannot be refused treatment. They have no insurance and “We the People” pay hospital taxes to provide this free service.

Congress and a parade of Presidents have allowed this inequity to exist for over 50 years. The Veterans get promises and the illegals and deadbeats get free local healthcare.

Folks, we finally elected a new President, Donald Trump, who has promised to fix this inequity. If the VA is staffed and managed like other government operations it is likely bloated and never has to be evaluated or regulated like our local hospitals. Congress and the 13 Presidents since I was born just ignore the millions of Americans that have served in our Military either by the draft or like myself volunteered. WHY?

Mr. Trump is not a politician, a lawyer, or a bureaucrat that can’t or refuses to find a job that requires performance measurements like industry. They do not have to make a profit to keep their jobs. We have agencies like the Department of Education, Energy Department that are useless like the Environmental Protection Agency that just crank out useless regulations that add nothing but costs to the products and services we pay for.

I hope and pray that Trump will not only have a performance audit of the VA but actually shut the operation down and make the VA hospitals operate like private hospitals and actually make a profit. Make Government employees work until they are 65 like we do in industry instead of retiring in their 50’s on pensions worth more than those in the work force at 65.

My greatest hope is that President Trump will choose a leader for the VA that is not a lawyer, a bureaucrat, a large doner to his election or a retired General. Officers at retirement do not have to use the VA to get healthcare. I hope he will choose a “Grunt” who has become a success or successful businessman like himself to evaluate and manage the VA.

In recent years auditing of everyday operations or even deeply complicated functions have been imposed on industry and some government operations by qualified and government approved and accredited organizations. Systems are in place to do evaluation audits of any function our government performs. When Congress and a President awaken to use this proven way to evaluate and function the government provides we will see a huge savings for duplication alone.

Trump or at least his management teams are familiar with this asset and process improvement requirements. If he can’t do everything he has promised, please do not forget the veterans. Our recent casualties in fighting wars with no possible advantage for America deserve the same healthcare as veterans of the world wars we have fought for the bankers.

I know he will never see this plea but he is an honorable man and he will help our veterans. His biggest problem will be Congress who have never cared for our veterans. If they did care we would not have over 400 organizations who beg for donations to help veterans. Sadly most use most of their donations to pay for administration that usually consume over half of the money they receive.

The VA let my good friend Bob Klosterman die at age 69 while waiting for treatment this year. He would be alive today if he could have received treatment on Medicare like I receive. Why not put veterans on Medicare and pay for their supplements so they could get treatment locally? C Brewer

VETERANS ADMINISTRATION FAILURES.

To hopefully get more Americans to demand that our veterans are treated at least as well as illegal aliens please share this with everyone. I wanted to re=blog this article after my latest article was published.

If every politician in Washington was required to have read this article and letter from Bob Kustermann that was published eleven months ago, Bob might still be alive. How we treat our veterans is inhumane at best. I followed this article with another plea titled “What has happened to America”on September 17, 2015 and it appears that no one really cares if we just let these brave Americans just die and go away.

In Bob’s last visit to the VA last month he was deathly ill and while they were arguing on what to do he checked himself out and went home to die at 69 waiting to start dialysis as his kidneys were failing. I wonder how many thousand times this happens every day? The saddest part of this story is that no one really seem to care. Is there anyone in America who knows how to get the attention of someone who will do something to shut down the Veterans hospitals and at least treat our veterans equally as we treat illegal aliens free.

I have some 550 people who read this blog and If they all send it to people on their mail list maybe a copy will find one of the people running for President. Maybe if FOX news and Megan Kelly would ask this question in one of the debates instead of trying to defeat Donald Trump with “Gotcha” questions it would get exposure from the biased media. If we had a media that cared this issue would have been fixed a long time ago. Two people commented on the original article. One was my son and the other was a friend from Melbourne Australia. Please read the following and help slow down this tragedy. C Brewer

AMERICAN VETERANS CARE – RED TAPE AND DISCRIMINATION! Published March 25, 2015

I sincerely hope this article makes you sick. The only people we have treated worse than the Indians, including illegal aliens, are our military veterans. I am extremely qualified to state the facts and verify the specific facts documented in the letter I ask to post as I am a veteran of the military. I am not a veteran of any combat or foreign service although I have likely visited and worked in more foreign countries, thirty-two to be specific, than 96% of every lobbyist, Congressman or the White House “Kingdom”. I volunteered and with my parents approval, I joined the US Navy Reserve in 1947 when I was 17. The Korean War seemed imminent and I volunteered for active duty in April 1948 and was honorably discharged on August 30, 1952. I had to serve an additional year as all enlistments were extended during the Korean war.

I only asked one time for any federal veteran benefit, some help with some uninsured drugs, and it was denied because I was earning more than the current poverty level. I did earn a military funeral but I have ask my wife not to even notify anyone from our government except my Federal Entitlement benefit that used to be called Social Security so they will not harass her. Writing this blog demands that I read facts and when I read a copy of this letter in our weekly local Sabine County Reporter, it disturbed me deeply. To even think we treat our veterans worse than illegal aliens is unbelievable. In essence an eligible veteran is treated worse by our government than the Democrats and illiterates (some are not both), who never worked or intend to work and draw welfare.

Even Medicaid is more responsive as the new VA Choice Card. The fact that all doctors in rural areas are not qualified is just another bureaucratic waste of time and money. The fact that our only hospital director or Board had no information is just another way to deny veterans benefits equal to aliens. They should be given the same benefits as I receive with Medicare and the government should pay their deductibles and premiums that I have to pay. Shut down the Veterans hospitals or make them available to everyone. Set the veterans free from oppression.

Please read this and pass this on to everyone you know. The really sad part is that the media, including Fox, has reported this change as an added benefit to our veterans. For Gods sakes how can what this letter describes be viewed as an improvement of any kind.

Bob Kustermann  is a good friend on mine along with all of the other veterans in Sabine County Texas.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to ask for your help with the new VA Choice Card. I received mine about a month and a half ago and called the number that was on the card to make sure I was qualified for this benefit, which it turns out, I am.

I live in Hemphill, Texas with the nearest VA clinic in Lufkin, Texas, approximately 60 miles away. The information I received indicated that if you live more than 40 miles from the nearest VA clinic or your VA appointment was more than 30 days away, you could see a local doctor.  The VA also indicated that our local hospital, Sabine County Hospital, and local doctors are currently eligible to participate.

When I first called, the VA asked for my information and said for me to call back in 7 days  to see if I was qualified.  The VA then informed me that if I needed an appointment with a local doctor to call them back and the VA would set up the appointment.  The VA then informed me it would take another 7 days to get this appointment approved, taking 14 days from the initial call to just schedule the appointment, not yet seeing a doctor for treatment.

One of my concerns is that I am required to have a physical exam twice a year.  In order to accomplish this I must travel the 60 miles to the Lufkin VA clinic two weeks in advance of my physical exam for blood work, and of course the 60 mile return trip, for a five-minute lab test.  I then have to make the 120 mile round trip two weeks later for the physical exam.  Many of the veterans I help in Sabine County cannot either physically make the trip to Lufkin or cannot financially afford the trip.

I recently was granted the opportunity to make a presentation on the VA Choice Card to our local Hospital Board.  Hospital Administrator Diana Taylor informed me that she has placed several phone calls and sent two emails to the VA within the past month requesting forms and other information to become eligible to participate in the program, but has received no response.

It is my understanding that there is only one local doctor that is eligible to participate in the program, but getting in to see him is a very lengthy process requiring the veteran to phone the VA and request an appointment with the local doctor; the veteran is then required to call the VA back in 5 to 7 days to find out when the appointment is scheduled with the local doctor; the appointment will likely be scheduled around 7 days away, with the total days spent now at 12 to 13 days; if a prescription is written by the doctor, it takes another 7 to 10 days to receive the medicine in the mail, making the total time thus far 19 to 23 days.

Common sense tells me that if a veteran has to wait up to 2 weeks for an appointment and 3 weeks before receiving medicine from the onset of their condition, the likelihood of the condition worsening, or become fatal, is a real possibility, requiring additional, and likely, more intense medical care.

The bureaucratic strings attached to the VA Choice Card are NOT helping veterans, but merely painting over and covering up systemic problems in a widely documented troubled agency.

Any assistance you can provide, not only to me but to all veterans to expedite their receipt of quality healthcare will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Robert Kustermann

I ask that you send a copy of this letter to every Congress Person, Governor, State Representative and Senator if you can get their address. Knowing Bob for many years and the hundreds of hours of community service he and many other veterans provide are vital for our rural County. My personal thanks to them all for all of their service.

Goodbye old friend, Sabine County Texas will miss your always smiling face and your willingness to give far more to help your fellow-man than you ever received. This old man will never forget you. You suffered far beyond normal and sadly forgotten by your own country. It appears to me that our Veterans Administration administers euthanasia successfully by just ignoring our veterans condition. VETERANS RISE UP AND BE HEARD!

To establish my creditability to write these articles I avidly volunteered to join the US Navy reserve when I turned 17. Shortly after I requested and was accepted for active duty service that lasted nearly three and a half years before and during the Korean War. I was honorably discharged the day before my 22 birthday in 1952.

My only brother accepted his commission to serve in the US Army after he graduated from the University of Texas. He served twenty four years and was honorably retired as a Lt. Colonel. Unfortunately he never recovered from the harassment of drug crazy obsessed Americans blaming the Viet Nam War on those who served in Viet Nam instead of the politicians that created the wars. He passed away at 55. He served two miserable tours in Viet Nam and was driven to his early death by vicious and vile American protesters like the Clintons, John Kerry and Jane Fonda.

Statistics of the Census Bureau reported that there were 21.8 million Veterans of the U.S. Armed forces as of 2014. Ten percent of these veterans were women. To put this into context they reported that there were 319.2 million Americans in 2014.

The point I intend to prove is that our veterans represent a sizeable group of Americans. Sadly we have no central voice or leadership to take advantage of this segment of our society. We have three large service organizations, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). These three have a visible presence in probably every county, multiple chapters in our large cities in every state in the Union. I would guess there are thousands but I have not located any factual number.

Each of these groups have power and they have done a great job demanding the attention of the politicians. The American Legion reports they have 2,700,000 members. The VFW reports that they have 1,700,000 members. The DAV reports they have 1,300,000 members. Sadly these 5,700,000 only represent 25% of the veterans and no one has ever really stepped up to organize the power of the entire elite group of Americans, called veterans.

There are 21.8 million veterans of the U.S. armed forces as of 2014, according the Census Bureau, approximately 10 percent of whom are women. To put that in context there are 319.2 million Americans, according to the census folks on Nov 10, 2014.

There are 55 Veteran Service Organizations chartered by congress. Military.com states there are 400,000 military charity organizations in existence. With so many charities to choose between can you imagine how much money is collected and the masses of people and expenses that are required to manage and fill out the necessary paper work required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)? Many charities spend as much as 90% of the donations on operating cost and 10% actually helping a veteran.

What puzzles me is if the government is responsible to provide services, especially medical care to eligible veterans, why do we need 400,000 military service organizations. Especially if they operate within the laws.

The biggest debacle in history is the way veterans receive medical treatment. I have previously written articles you can read on my blog. The saddest thing I have watched happen is an illegal alien can go to an emergency room (ER) anywhere in the country and get treatment for a common cold but a veteran can’t. No one should be allowed to go to an ER unless it is an actual emergency. The goofy reason we have this drain on the budgets in small town America is the illegals can’t get free service at a Doctor’s office.

VA medical facilities and Vet Centers are run by the Veterans Health Administration of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, while community-based outpatient clinics are run by civilian medical practitioners within a community and serve the veterans of those communities in partnership with the VA. Vet Centers focus on post-war adjustment, counseling and outreach services for veterans and their families. There are currently 152 VA Medical Centers and approximately 1400 community-based outpatient clinics in the US. Obviously small towns have no services or allocated funds to treat veterans or illegals.

March 10, 2015 – CNN reports that more than 1,600 veterans waited between 60 and 90 days for appointments at facilities operated by the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. About 400 veterans waited six months for an appointment, according to documents provided to CNN. The average wait time, according to documents dated January 15, 2015, was 48 days. This is unacceptable but no one cares and the existing three large veterans groups mentioned earlier have screamed but nothing happens.

September 2, 2015 – The VA Inspector General releases a review of alleged mismanagement at the VA’s Health Eligibility Center. According to the review, more than 307,000 deceased veterans were listed as enrollees with pending VA applications. The inspector general calculated that about 35% of all pending records were for deceased veterans. CNN reports that many of the deceased veterans may have died while awaiting treatment.

The main reason we read about these inhuman ways we treat Americans that were either drafted in the past or freely enlisted like I did is because of several reasons. One reason is the military is rigidly structured with officers and enlisted personnel. Serving in the military or receiving benefits is not the same for officers and enlisted personnel. This imbalance could be the primary reason we have the horrible medical care for the enlisted folks I have shared in this article. Because we have a two tiered system in the military is why we do not have the power of over nearly 22 million veterans but we only have some 5.7 million organized veterans screaming for help who were mostly enlisted personnel.

Someone of power either serving or retired needs to start an effort to organize all of the nearly 22 million veterans to have one voice. Congress does not care, the administrations don’t care, and the judicial system does not care. Why, because there is not enough pressure to make them fix a broken Veterans Administration that primarily only penalizes the enlisted class of veterans. I can’t believe we can’t find a General or Admiral that would organize all veterans into a group that would get more attention. Officers deserve to be treated adequately but they are sworn to protect their troops too. Any veteran that has to wait 48 days or longer to just see a doctor is inhuman. I will shortly repost an article that describes what the local people in the area where I live have to endure which actually is worse than what is described in this article.

My primary reason to write this article is to see if enough American and veterans get involved to fix what’s broke and enhance the power of our veterans. Let me also explain that not all veterans are involved using myself as an example. I have never received any medical services since I was discharged nearly 64 years ago. I was an enlisted man but my success in the business world exempts me as my income exceeds the level that provides any service by the VA.

What makes my blood boil is the way other veterans receive worse medical treatment than an illegal alien. We recently buried a great friend and veteran, Bob Klosterman, who died at 66 years old while waiting for the VA to provide necessary treatment. This tragedy is being repeated every day and no one in the race for President but Donald Trump even seems to care. Even worse, every Congress and President since Reagan does not care. The saddest thing I never thought I would see in my 86 years is the media also does not care. Folks this is an issue that must be fixed. Trump has made this an objective to fix, if Hillary wins it is just four more years of incompetence. I wonder how many thousand will die waiting for someone to care in the next four years?

WATCHING “RINOS” TRUE LOYALTY!

Like many Americans born in the 1920/30 era, I was born a Democrat. In Texas, and most of the south, until the early 1960’s we did not even have a Republican as the Democratic Party was the most “conservative”.

Since then the Republicans became the Party to represent the bible believer, gun toting, freedom loving, military volunteer, hard-working new middle class Americans.

Then along came “Roe vs Wade” and the split started dissolving the cohesion within the Republicans that resulted with Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama moving the Democratic Party so far left we are facing moral and financial bankruptcy, and soon. Another Clinton will assure America becoming a Socialists Democracy first, then a Muslim Sharia Law extension of what was once a free Europe.

John McCain, Lindsay Graham, George and Jeb Bush, Bill Crystal, the Koch brothers, Mitt Romney to mention just a few of the Republicans in Name Only or “RINO’S have overtly assured all of their followers that they will not vote for or support the apparent Republican nominee for President, “Donald Trump”.

The real shocker was a story that Paul Ryan, who I omitted as a RINO above, has actually become a Muslim follower officially. This brings up some real questions as he can’t defend Constitution he swore to do if he is of the Muslim faith. This does clear up why he has so strongly supported the relocation of the Syrian refugees and the billions it will costs instead of allocating the borrowed money to help American military veterans in need.

Every American voter should know that one of Donald Trump’s priority pledges has been to help our veterans now. He has promised to shake up the useless Veterans Administration and help veterans have medical service at least equal to illegal aliens. Every American alive who opposes this issue should pack up and leave.

Curiously both Graham and Jeb Bush will not honor their pledge they both signed when candidates for the Republican nomination to support anyone who wins the nomination. In Texan talk, “lying” is worse than cheating on your wife, abusing a child or dodging the military during times of war. Any man whose word is not “Bond” is the enemy as he should be. Unfortunately if not being “100% truthful” was a crime we would be voting for the full 535 members of Congress in November. Our current President, “Obummer” has taken lying to a new level even for American politicians. History will prove this as the current media could care less.

I have been ecstatic reading about all of the Muslim loving, military veteran haters who have announced packing up and leaving America, may have to eat crow or actually move. Lying is their specialty. We should develop a list of every media individual who has lied, omitted facts, twisted words to face deportation to Mexico. This includes all individuals in newspapers, television, radio and even blogs. As they can’t be honest they will fit nicely into the Mexican lifestyle.

Anyone claiming to be or elected as a Republican that fails to support the Party nominee should be banned from calling themselves a Republican. Trump has already gained more votes than any Republican in history. He has already convinced more independents and dissatisfied Democrats to vote Republican in November than anyone in history.

The brilliant reason is he has listened to the people rather than the pundits who are running for cover. He has done more to wake up the voters on just how screwed up Washington DC has become. He will drain the swamp and unite the people if enough Americans are fed up with politics as I am vote for him.

MEMORIAL DAY 2014

God Bless our veterans on this day set aside for honoring those who gave their lives so America could be free. Unfortunately many also gave their lives to allow politicians to deprive them of being treated for health related issues. It is bad enough to deprive younger veterans to get adequate healthcare but letting the older ones die to make government records look better is murder.

This is the most gruesome action by a government in my lifetime. I am a veteran, 83+ years old and fed up with our entire government. I am on Medicare that is obviously better than what the Veterans Administration (VA) would provide me if I had to use their services. Yes, I have to pay for my Medicare healthcare that most young and uninformed Americans think is also free. Healthcare coverage premiums for myself and my wife exceed $700 a month. I hope all Americans will be happy that Obamacare has introduced new requirements that will allow a “Death Panel” to decide when to let old people like me die instead of God or a doctor.

An illegal alien or any American citizen on Medicaid can go to a local emergency room, receive their healthcare treatment and taxpayers pick up the tab. Veterans who must depend on the VA for healthcare have to travel to a VA facility to see a doctor to just get a prescription. If they use an emergency room they have to pay for the service.

For those who live in a city with VA facilities this is no different than Americans with insurance or on Medicare. For illegals and those on Medicaid we also provide free cell phones and supplemental help with local travel. This is not true for veterans who live in rural areas.

I live some 7.5 miles from Hemphill Texas. Hemphill has some 1100+ citizens and is the County Seat of Sabine County. Sabine County has about 10,500 citizens, covers some 600 square miles and over 30% of the people are over 62 and retired.

Using this area as an example, the closest VA clinic is located in Lufkin Texas. The closest VA Hospital that serves veterans is located in Houston Texas. Sabine County probably has more veterans as a percentage of total population than 90% of all 254 counties in Texas.

If a local veteran has need to see a doctor he has to call and get an appointment. This requires a round trip of from 90 to 165 miles. If he requires hospitalization they can drive directly to Houston that would average about 420 miles. If it is a non-emergency he can travel to Lufkin and catch a VA shuttle bus that makes daily trips.

I pray that the VA fiasco currently in the news will result in Congressional action to put those who created this veterans death panel in prison for the rest of their lives.

President Obama is waiting on a report of some kind to act. It’s strange that he and John Kerry could cut all military aid to Thailand and denounce a military coup in less than a day after the military took over control of the government. Well it does let the biased media have ammunition to move the VA issues to page 16 rather than the front page of the paper.

I am researching this to write an article comparing what has happened in Thailand to what has happened in the USA. So far it appears to indicate that need for a military coup in America would be a much greater a blessing for the people than what is happening in Washington D.C.   C Brewer

AMERICA IS LEADERLESS! WHEN WILL ENOUGH BE ENOUGH?

Why do the people sit on their hands and watch the most inept array of supposedly the best people in America run amok? With Memorial Day approaching I wish every American alive could read and comment on this article. While some of us will remember our veterans as hero’s our President will probably play golf on this paid holiday for all government employees. Remember real hero’s don’t wear capes, they wear dog tags.

Why are the majority of Democrats and a few Republicans pleased with an Attorney General who refuses to obey our own laws? He approves the release of thousands of convicted aliens who were rapists, murderers, and thieves from detainment. He sues the states for trying to enact and maintain common sense laws we need to eliminate fraud. Who cares, I do, do you? The sad part is if Obama could shut down Fox News we would not even know most of this lawlessness.

Why are all Democrats happy with the lawless operations of the IRS that Obama, Harry Reid and Queen Nancy Pelosi sweep under the cloud of deception?

Why are most Democrats pleased that the government records and listens to your phone calls, reads your E mails and records it all?

Why do most Democrats and far too many Republicans waste trillions of tax dollars on the Departments of Education and Energy they have continually failed to improve education standings or reduce our dependence on foreign oil?

Democrats who properly forced Richard Nixon to resign for secret probing of other Americans are now fat dumb and happy that our President and Secretary of State sacrificed the lives of four true American hero’s in Benghazi, Libya to get Obama re-elected. The action itself was inhuman and unprecedented in our history. Lying and hiding the facts is inexcusable to everyone but Democrats. At least Nixon did not kill or sacrifice other Americans but was at least replaced. I wonder if all of the people who voted for Obama, Reid, Pelosi and the other mindless Democratic leaders are happy with the Benghazi political cover-up.

I have not been writing much lately as I have just stopped watching the news or reading the Beaumont Texas Enterprise, the only newspaper available here in deep East Texas. This newspaper is so liberal biased even the crossword puzzles seem slanted left. What motivated me to write this article is watching the tragedy happening this past week about how our veterans are being sacrificed so that the Veterans Administration (VA) operations appear positive.

This is the last straw for any American to have to endure. I am a veteran as I enlisted in the US Navy Reserve at 17. I spent nearly five years, 3.5 on active duty, and fortunately for me I never faced anything more dangerous than traffic getting to and from the base. I was Honorable Discharged at 22 and I have never needed or asked for any healthcare from the VA.

Watching Obama and his Democratic leaders lie, sweep things under the rug, ignore our laws, waste our money, sacrifice other Americans for political gain is horrible and history will someday record these events.

If Congress and the American people allow the facts to be hidden about the way our veterans have been allowed to die to make reports be favorable, we have failed as humane people.

Do you wonder why the Veterans Administration is not managed by veterans instead of bureaucrats? I do. We pay to expertly educate our military officers to be doctors, nurses, lawyers, administrators and accountable leaders. It seems to be common sense that we utilize these professionals to not only lead but to manage all VA operations instead of bureaucrats.

Please tell me how you feel, agree or disagree with my facts and I will post your comments on this article. It will take you less than five minutes to get involved. Hopefully you are as concerned about our veterans as I am?
