HOLDER GONE WILD-AGAIN!
THIS MAN SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME!
“Federal prosecutors will no longer seek long, “mandatory minimum” sentences for many low-level, nonviolent drug offenders, under a major shift in policy aimed at turning around decades of explosive growth in the federal prison population”, Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. announced Monday.
“Too many Americans go to too many prisons for far too long, and for no good law enforcement reason,” Holder told the American Bar Assn. “While the aggressive enforcement of federal criminal statutes remains necessary, we cannot simply prosecute or incarcerate our way to becoming a safer nation.”
In his speech, Holder endorses that point of view, saying that “a vicious cycle of poverty, criminality and incarceration traps too many Americans and weakens too many communities” and that “many aspects of our criminal justice system may actually exacerbate this problem, rather than alleviate it.”
“By reserving the most severe penalties for serious, high-level or violent drug traffickers, we can better promote public safety, deterrence and rehabilitation, while making our expenditures smarter and more productive,” Holder said in his speech.
“While the entire U.S. [prison] population has increased by about a third since 1980, the federal population has grown at an astonishing rate — by almost 800%,” Holder’s speech says. “It’s still growing, despite the fact that federal prisons are operating at nearly 40% above capacity. Even though this country comprises just 5% of the world’s population, we incarcerate almost a quarter of the world’s prisoners.”
“Clearly, these strategies can work,” Holder’s speech said, citing recent efforts in Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. “They’ve attracted overwhelming, bipartisan support in ‘red states’ as well as ‘blue states.’ And it’s past time for others to take notice.”
Without anyone’s approval except Obama, “Self-Ordained Master of the World”, they just ignore the law of the land. Congress is responsible to enact our laws, The Executive Branch and the Justice Department used to enforce them.
I have no cross to bear regarding the actual issue of drugs in our society. I never tried using any drug that my doctor did not prescribe to keep me alive. Breaking the law in my 83 years has been limited to about five speeding tickets and one violation for not wearing my seat belt properly. I never got a speeding ticket that I did not deserve. I’m still pissed off about the seat belt incident in Jasper Texas that has costs that County some $250,000 in my purchases for the $143 ticket that was trumped up. Now I feel better.
I do have a problem with who gives these people the right to pick and choose what laws to enforce. Look in the mirror to learn who is responsible for electing these people who are destroying our Constitution and know there is nothing we can do to stop them. If Obama or Holder murdered someone tomorrow, we would never know it as the media would excuse the event as an accident and destroy any incriminating evidence just because they can. We see and hear what the propaganda pushers want us to know.
Unless you read the blogosphere, you see nothing but controlled news in the papers and on TV. When we have someone with the gonads like Glenn Beck to reveal the truth even Fox News throws him under the bus. Looks like Sean Hannity is next to be silenced by Fox until his contract runs out in 2016. Time will tell.
Under the direction of President Obama, Eric Holder has just given the finger, again, to our Congress, the Justice system and every American who abides by the law. The Democrats get upset because some of us have no respect for Obama and his hand picked Comrades. Respect for anyone is earned, not assigned or part of the law. Until Congress removes the First Amendment to the Constitution no one can deny my right to respect or dis-respect anyone.
